The specific question the investigators will seek to answer is: can the Reamer Irrigator Aspirator (RIA) provide a bone graft source for the treatment of nonunions that is equally effective to Autogenous Iliac Crest Bone Graft (AICBG) while resulting in a decreased amount of post-operative pain and a lower rate of complications?

The purpose of this clinical registry is to capture data on an ongoing basis from a population of patients who will use Biomet's BHS, OrthoPak and SpinalPak devices.

Tibial pseudarthrosis in 83 year old patient suffering from pathologic fractures

The purpose of the study is to determine whether vitamin D supplementation in patients with hypovitaminosis D can decrease nonunion (failure to heal) incidence in patients with fractures of the humerus, femur, or tibia. The central hypothesis of the study is that vitamin D supplementation in patients with fractures and hypovitaminosis D will decrease the risk of nonunion compared to placebo treatment.

The anterior-inferior clavicle plate position will have a lower rate of soft tissue irritation that limits activity and/or requires hardware removal compared to superior plate position.

The aim of the study is to determine whether the evaluation of pro-osteogenic activity of autologous serum may predict the effectiveness of platelet gel in regenerating bone tissue in patients with nonunions of long bones. Serum samples will be collected before the surgery, and their pro-osteogenic activity will be evaluated by using a bioactivity test (mineralization assay). In order to determine whether the pro-osteogenic activity of the serum is able to discriminate between individuals who will achieve or will not achieve bone consolidation, the laboratory results will be correlated with clinical and radiographic results at 12 months, when patients will be considered as healed or not healed.

Delayed union or nonunion, which is a common complication of periarticular fractures repaired with angled locking plate systems, may be due to the unintentionally rigid formation of this system. This study aimed to compare the results of the treatment of distal tibial fractures made more flexible using the far cortical locking (FCL) technique with the classical bicortical locking screw (BL) technique.

The Study Investigators have seen high rates of tobacco cessation success combining Chantix with the risk of no surgery, should tobacco use continue. Once patients achieve tobacco cessation and undergo surgery, the investigators have seen high rates of union and/or infection resolution. The investigators are looking to document and publish these observations. To date, no studies have been published that have examined the effects of this type of protocol on short and long-term tobacco cessation. The investigators want to examine and report the outcome of Hershey Medical Center's Orthopaedic Trauma Division's protocol for two endpoints: 1) pre-op tobacco cessation and 2) duration of tobacco cessation. This protocol involves counseling, Chantix, and a 'no-surgery' risk. Patients will be followed postoperatively for success and duration of tobacco cessation, as well as for fracture union and/or infection eradication.

Tibial shaft fractures is common long tubular fracture that account for about 13.7% of all fractures. And the incidence of nonunion of tibial shaft fracture varied from 1% to 80%. This study aimed to confirm the risk factors of nonunion of tibial shaft fracture. Moreover, the investigators hope to establish the clinical pathway of various risk factors for fracture nonunion and affirm the importance of different risk factors.

This study is one of three separate studies of the Bioventus Observational Non-interventional EXOGEN Studies (BONES) program. Eligibility for each study is determined by fractured bone.
