Investigation of Preoperative Frailty in Elderly Patients With Colorectal Cancer and Correlation...

Colorectal Cancer

To investigate and analyze the status of preoperative frailty and its influencing factors in elderly patients with colorectal cancer using FRALL scale and other related scales, and to explore the correlation between preoperative frailty and early prognosis in elderly patients with colorectal cancer, so as to attract the attention of medical staff to preoperative frailty in this population and provide a preliminary research basis for the study of frailty intervention in these patients.

The Turkish Version of the Survey of Activities and Fear of Falling in the Elderly

FallOld Age; Debility5 more

The Survey of Activities and Fear of Falling in the Elderly (SAFE) was originally developed in English to determine the level of fear of falling and its interactions with activities of daily living. The purpose of this study was to translate and cross-culturally adapt the SAFE instrument into Turkish and investigate its psychometric properties.

Trauma Specific Frailty Index

Physical Trauma

Increasing age is a known predictor of morbidity and mortality after a traumatic injury with worst outcomes seen in patients with age greater than 65 years. Geriatric trauma patients are a unique cohort of patients who are highly prone to develop decompensated state following the stress of traumatic event leading to adverse outcomes. In a prospective study the primary site demonstrated the presence of frailty syndrome as a better predictor of in-hospital complications and adverse discharge disposition among geriatric trauma patients than age. Presently, Methodist Dallas Medical Center aims to participate in the large scale prospective multi-institutional validation of TSFI to assess the sensitivity and specificity of Trauma Specific Frailty Index in predicting adverse outcomes through a diverse account utilizing multiple facilities.

Correlation of Berg Balance Scale, Time up and Go and Dynamic Gait Index Scale in Elderly

Old Age; Debility

This study will find a correlation Between Berg Balance scale, Time up and Go and Dynamic Gait Index Scale in community Dwelling Ambulatory Elderly. It will be comparative cross sectional survey that will be evaluate which scale is best one for quick screening of elderly. This study will be completed within the time duration of 6 month. Convenient sampling technique will be used to collect the data. 125 sample size will be taken, in this study to find the correlation between Berg Balance scales. Time up and Go and Dynamic Gait index scale in community dwelling ambulatory elderly. In this study all subjects perform Mini-mental state examination test to meet the inclusion criteria of the study it will be above than 25 than all subjects perform Berg Balance test, Time up and Go test and Dynamic Gait Index test then interpret their values to find the best one scale for screening of elderly. . In this study subjects included will be living independently in the community and also those who walk without any aid. Those subjects who are diagnosed with neuromuscular condition, cardiorespiratory condition, cognitive impairment and having uncorrected auditory and visual deficit will be excluded from this study. In this study we will check the static, proactive part of the dynamic balance, their gait impairments and also the risk of fall of elder population. Pearson correlation Data will be analyzed on SPSS 25.

The Patient in Laparoscopic Colon Surgery:Impact of Comorbidities,Frailty,Malnutrition and Sarcopenia...

Colon CancerMalnutrition2 more

There are many factors involved in outlining the patient's profile and in defining which factors can be configured as risks related to the surgical act; for the modern surgeon it is no longer possible to identify the patient at risk of complications based on the mere age or some comorbidities historically considered more influential on the surgical outcome, but each patient must be evaluated in its entirety including age, fragility, comorbidity, state nutritional and sarcopenia and, if necessary, implementing preoperative therapeutic strategies aimed at minimizing the impact of some of these factors on the outcome of surgery. Our study aimed at creating, if possible, an "identikit" of the patient who is more likely to have serious postoperative complications; in order to improve the therapeutic decision and the approach to patients with severe surgical risk since choosing the right treatment for the right patient is essential to obtain a good result.

Frailty Screening in the Swedish Emergency Department Setting

FrailtyFrailty Syndrome3 more

This prospective observational study will investigate the correlation of frailty in relation to serious outcomes. Serious outcomes are defined as: mortality within 30 days, admission to hospital, length of stay in the Emergency Department(ED), in hospital length of stay and revisits to the ED. The exposure, frailty, will be assessed according to Clinical Frailty Scale. ED patients >65 years of age in a Swedish regional health care system (Region Östergötland, Sweden) comprising three EDs in Linköping, Norrköping and Motala. The outcomes will be compared according to the degree of frailty and censored over 7, 30 and 90 days respectively.

Loss of Independence - a Rapid Alternative to Frailty Screening in a Swedish ED Setting

FrailtyFrailty Syndrome2 more

This prospective observational study will investigate the correlation of a surrogate marker of frailty in relation to serious outcomes. Serious outcomes are defined as: mortality within 30 days, admission to hospital, length of stay in the Emergency Department (ED), in-hospital Length of Stay and revisits to the ED. The exposure, frailty, will be assessed according to Loss of Independence (LOI) a possible low-cost quick tool to identify frailty in patients. The study population will be ED patients, >65 years of age in a Swedish regional health care system (Region Östergötland, Sweden), comprising three EDs in Linköping, Norrköping and Motala. The outcomes will be compared according to the degree of frailty and censored over 7, 30 and 90 days.

Prevalence of Frailty Among People Aged 75 and Over Living at Home

Frailty

The aging of population lead to study ways to prevent dependence. Frailty is a precursor to dependence which can be reversible. In the literature, estimate of prevalence of frailty is highly variable depending on the frailty definition, the population studied and the screan tool used. In fact, many scales to measure frailty have emerged without gold standard. The SEGAm showed its usefulness in aged patients living at home.

Frail Elderly SyndromeAnesthesia Complication3 more

Objectives: To assess the prevalence of frailty in patients older than 70 y/o in nephrourologic surgery. To study if preoperative frailty is an independent predictor of immediate postoperative complications, after 30 days, 6 months and 1 year of follow-up. To detect if there are other independent risk factors for complications.
