Analysis of the Impact of Used Probiotic Strains and Diet on Body Composition, Cardiopulmonary Efficiency...

Gastrointestinal DisorderFunctional

The aim of the study was to assess the diet and the effect of probiotic therapy on reducing the incidence of gastrointestinal disorders and selected parameters determining the inflammation of the body, body composition, cardiopulmonary efficiency and selected serum biochemical parameters. 70 competitors took part in the study. The research was carried out at the Department of Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition (Medical University of Bialystok), Fitness Club Maniac Gym in Bialystok, as well as at the Hematological Diagnostics Department and the Biochemical Diagnostics Department of the University Teaching Hospital in Bialystok. The study was randomized using a double-blind trial. 35 persons selected in the draw were G1 group and the remaining G2 group (n=35). The intervention factor was the SANPROBI BARRIER multi-strain probiotic or placebo. Competitors used probiotic/ placebo for three months at a dose of 2x2 capsules daily (2.5 x 10 9 CFU / g (1 capsule)). The consent of the Bioethics Committee of the Medical University, no. RI-002/81/2017, was obtained for the study. The study consisted of two stages (W1 and W2), and each stage was associated with three visits by the participants. The first of these (W1) included qualification for the study, completing the questionnaire and 3-day nutrition diaries. At the second visit, body composition analysis and cardiopulmonary efficiency test on a medical treadmill were performed. For morphological tests (blood count with smear, lipid profile, fasting glucose, C-reactive protein and ionogram) at the third visit for each competitor was collected blood from the vein in the amount of 10 ml. The final stage (W2) included similar three visits, where the first visit was made after 3 months of taking product A or B. 66 competitors took part in it.

FDG-PET-CT and Biomarkers in Esophageal Cancer

Gastrointestinal DiseaseEsophageal Cancer

The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if the results of a positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan done 10-14 days after beginning chemotherapy and radiation (chemoradiation) can predict how a patient with cancer of the esophagus will respond to chemoradiation. Researchers also want to learn if biomarkers (substances in the body associated with cancer) found in tumor tissue can predict response to chemoradiation.

PMRR-NO: Pulmonary Metabolic Radiation Response Versus Exhaled Nitric Oxide

Gastrointestinal DiseaseEsophageal Cancer1 more

The goal of this clinical research study is to use a new breathing test that measures the amount of nitric oxide (NO) you exhale. Researchers want to compare your "NO" levels to the amount of inflammation in your lungs, as measured using a positron emission tomography (PET) scan reading, and with respiratory symptoms questionnaire.

Prevalence and Associated Factors of Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders Among Children

Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders

The definition of Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (FGIDs) has changed over time from the absence of organic disease to a stress-related or psychiatric disorder to a motility disorder, and with Rome III, to a disorder of GI functioning, then Rome iv in 2016 defined FGIDs as : disorders of gut-brain interaction. It is a group of disorders classified by GI symptoms related to any combination of the following: motility disturbance, visceral hypersensitivity, altered mucosal and immune function, altered gut microbiota, and altered central nervous system (CNS) processing. FGIDs are observed in infants and young children worldwide with variable frequency related studies done in variable places around the worled show the following results : the prevalence of FGIDs in Chinese infants and young children is 27.3%.and 40 % in south american infants and 30 % of african infants and 35.1 % of infants presented to tertiary care hospital in Istunbul.Turkey.

Comparative Study of Intestinal Color Ultrasound and Capsule Endoscopy in Monitoring Crohn's Disease...

Digestive System DiseaseInflammatory Bowel Diseases2 more

The disease activity index under intestinal color ultrasound was evaluated by SUS-CD, and the disease activity index under capsule endoscopy was evaluated by CECDAI. All subjects underwent intestinal color ultrasound and capsule endoscopy at baseline and at the third month of treatment. To compare the correlation between SUS-CD and CECDAI before and after treatment, and to compare the role of intestinal color ultrasound and capsule endoscopy in monitoring Crohn's disease in small intestine.

Relationship Between Pelvic Angle, Femoral Anteversion, and Hip Muscle Strength Ratios in Children...

Bladder and Bowel DysfunctionFemoral Anteversion4 more

Bladder and bowel dysfunction is a combination of lower urinary tract and bowel dysfunction seen in children over 5 years of age without identifiable or discernible neurological abnormalities. The proper functioning of the bladder, bowel, nerves, pelvic floor muscles and related anatomical structures provides the bowel and lower urinary tract function. Dysfunction of any structure of the pelvic floor can potentially cause to bladder and bowel dysfunction. The ability of the pelvic floor muscles to perform the correct contraction and relaxation function is also closely related to the position of the pelvis, muscle strength of the hip muscles, and femoral anteversion. Disruption of one of the links forming the chain causes a change in the mobility and stability of all mechanically related structures and may affect the optimal force that the pelvic floor muscles can produce. As far as investigators know, there is no study in the literature examining the relationship between BBD and pelvic angle, femoral anteversion angle, femoral internal/external rotation angle ratio and hip muscle strength ratios in children with bladder-bowel dysfunction. Considering the close relationship between pelvis position, hip muscle strength, and femoral anteversion with the pelvic floor, investigators think that this relationship should be evaluated in children with BBD and will contribute to the literature.
