Detection of Helicobacter Pylori Infection by High Resolution Endoscopy

Helicobacter-associated Gastritis

Although endoscopic findings of H. pylori have been reported in the literature, there is still some debate over whether H. pylori-related gastritis can be diagnosed via endoscopic features alone. Most studies concluded that it is not possible to diagnose H. pylori-related gastritis on the basis of endoscopic findings. However, the resolution power of endoscopy has greatly improved in recent years and the exact examination of gastric mucosa was possible.

Magnifying NBI Endoscopy for Gastric Condition

Gastritis H Pylori

Recently, the improved resolution with standard endoscopy allows the close observation of highly inflamed gastric mucosa without a magnifying view. In a previous study, the investigators established the endoscopic classification of H. pylori-infected stomach by non-magnifying standard endoscopy. One normal RAC pattern and three types of abnormal patterns were observed. Overall diagnostic accuracy for predicting H. pylori-infection was 91.6%. However, there is no comparison study predicting H. pylori-infection and precancerous gastric lesions between standard and magnifying endoscopy.

Prevalence of H. Pylori Gastritis in Sleeve Gastrectomy Specimens

Gastritis H PyloriGastritis1 more

This is a cross-sectional study looking for prevalence of H.Pylori related gastritis among patients underwent sleeve gastrectomy over five year study period. The study also looks for possible association with patients's characteristics. Also, compares its findings with similar regional and international studies.

Data Bank for Eosinophilic Disorders

Eosinophilic EsophagitisGastritis3 more

The purpose of this study is to conduct a translational study in patients with primary eosinophil associated gastrointestinal disorders [EGID] (e.g. eosinophilic esophagitis eosinophilic gastritis, eosinophilic enteritis [EE], eosinophilic colitis, and eosinophilic gastroenteritis [EGE]) with the aim of developing a data bank containing pertinent patient demographic information, tissue samples, and DNA, which will facilitate research on the pathophysiology of inflammatory disorders and the development of a verified successful clinical treatment program.

The Revolutions of Helicobacter Pylori Infection, Bacterial Density, and Histological Features After...

Helicobacter Pylori InfectionPeptic Ulcer2 more

Helicobacter pylori (HP) is a gram-negative bacillus responsible for one of the most common infections found in humans worldwide. By the early-to-mid 1990s, further evidence emerged supporting the link between the chronic gastritis of HP infection and malignancy in adults, specifically gastric lymphoma and adenocarcinoma. The potential of HP eradication for the prevention of gastric cancer was underlined. At the national consensus meeting held in Brussels in 1998, HP eradication was strongly recommended in past or current peptic ulcer diseases, regardless of activity, complication and post endoscopic resection of early cancer. Some patients received gastric surgery due to the complications of peptic ulcer such as bleeding or perforation in the pre-HP eradication era. Their HP infection status was not surveyed and unknown at the time. Afterward, some of them were not suggested to receive an eradication therapy and recovered from the operative procedure. According to the consensus to treat HP for a purpose to reduce the risk of gastric cancer, these patients were still under risk. There have been only a few surveys on the prevalence of persistent HP infection in patients who have undergone surgery. The aim of the study was to evaluate the prevalence and histological features of HP infection after a time course of partial distal gastric surgery.

Difference of Gastric Microbiota in the Process of Correa's Model.

Gastric MicrobiotaNon-atrophic Gastritis5 more

Helicobater pylori plays an important role in the development of gastric cancer. Eradication therapy can reducing the morbidity of gastric cancer, but can't totally prevent it especially when atrophy and more serious precancerous lesions already happened. Prior studies found the gastric bacterial difference among gastritis, intestinal metaplasia and gastric cancer. However, they didn't reach an agreement. Correa's model is widely accepted in the development of gastric cancer. The pathological change makes a more suitable environment for bacteria to overgrowth. This study are designed to analyze the gastric microbial difference of non-atrophic gastritis, atrophic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia, intraepithelial neoplasia and gastric cancer.

Syndrome Patterns for Chronic Atrophic Gastritis Malignant Transformation

TCM Syndrome of Chronic Atrophic Gastritis

Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) is acknowledged as the precancerous stage of gastric cancer (GC). The present study aims to explore Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome features in different stages of CAG malignant transformation respectively. The proposed study is a cross-sectional study based participant survey conducted in 4 hospitals in Beijing, China. After obtaining informed consent, a total of 2000 study patients will be recruited on-site in hospitals.
