Use of proton pump inhibitors (PPI) has increased in recent years. There are concerns that PPIs have possible negative effects on bone metabolism. It has been suggested that PPIs may reduce the absorption of calcium from the small intestine and lead to bone resorption by affecting osteoclastic activity. In this study, it is planned to investigate the effects of lansoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, on bone turnover markers in pediatric patients with gastroesophageal reflux or gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Patients with severe acid reflux and/or Barrett's esophagus are recommended to take Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs)indefinitely to prevent complications such as strictures or the development of a type of esophageal cancer. Recently, some studies suggested that taking these medications on a long-term basis may affect the bone. Therefore, it is important to learn whether these medications may lead to accelerated bone loss so that effective preventive measures can be developed for patients who require these medications for acid-related conditions. Several studies reported that patients receiving PPIs for many years may have increased risk of hip fractures. However, it is unclear whether this is because the PPIs cause reduced bone density or whether the increased risk of fractures has nothing to do with PPIs and is because patients who require PPIs have other illnesses that cause the increased fractures. The purpose of the study is to learn how bone structure and bone mass change after long-term PPI use.

There are three main directions for use GerdQ in practice. First of all, GerdQ can be used to diagnose GERD with an accuracy comparable to the accuracy of diagnosis of GERD by the specialist (gastroenterologist). Using GerdQ can evaluate the impact of disease on the patient's life and help in choosing treatment of GERD, as well as direct assessment of treatment efficacy. In connection with mentioned above, this study is devoted to the estimation of possibility to use GerdQ in routine practice of Russian physicians.

The investigators hypothesized that: 1) an intervention targeted at the prescribing physician would increase the rate of a metoclopramide discontinuation among patients prescribed the medication for questionable or unclear indications; and 2) the discontinuation would be durable.

The purpose of the study is to follow the medical course of children with moderate to severe asthma and see how this relates to whether they have acid of non-acid gastroesophageal reflux

Study Hypothesis: PillCam™ ESO-2 will demonstrate equivalent accuracy parameters as compared to blinded esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) in detecting suspected Barrett's esophagus, detecting and grading esophagitis. The specific aim of this proposed pilot study is to compare two standardized processes (paper and electronic) to deliver a customized MedlinePlus health information prescription.

This study is a test of how well a new FDA-approved device is for diagnosing a condition known as laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR). The device, which measures pH of the air in the upper throat, will be compared to several other methods for diagnosing laryngopharyngeal reflux.

This is a study of Barrett's Esophagus (BE) and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). It aims to look at the long term efficacy of evidence-based cutting edge diagnostic and therapeutic algorithms and techniques such as radiofrequency ablation, endoscopic mucosal resection and surveillance endoscopy with biopsy. Additionally, biological analyses will be performed in hopes of identifying biomarkers associated with the progression of BE to esophageal cancer.
