A Study of Danicopan in Participants With Geographic Atrophy Secondary to Age-Related Macular Degeneration...

Geographic Atrophy

This is a dose finding study designed to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetics of danicopan in participants with GA secondary to AMD. The study consists of a Screening Period of up to 6 weeks, a 104-week masked Treatment Period, followed by a 30-day Follow-up after the last dose. This study will have 4 treatments arms: 100 milligrams (mg) twice daily (bid), 200 mg bid, 400 mg once daily (qd), and matching placebo.

Restoration of Central Vision With the PRIMA System in Patients With Atrophic AMD

Geographic Atrophy

The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the PRIMA System in patients with atrophic AMD. Eligible subjects will be implanted with the PRIMA Implant. The subjects will be assessed with various visual function and functional vision tests at defined timepoints throughout the clinical investigation with the PRIMA System (Implant and Visual Processor).

Evaluation of Oral Minocycline in the Treatment of Geographic Atrophy Associated With Age-Related...

Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Background: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the main reason older people lose their vision. It affects the macula, the center of the retina needed for sharp, clear vision. Researchers want to see if an antibiotic can help people with an advanced form of AMD, Geographic Atrophy (GA). Objective: To see if minocycline is safe for people with GA and if it helps preserve their vision. Eligibility: People age 55 and older who have GA in at least one eye. Design: Participants will be screened with physical exam, medical history, blood tests, and eye exam. Participants will take minocycline. They will take 1 pill twice a day for at least 3 years. Participants will have a minimum of 11 study visits. (But they are not every 3 months.). At each visit, participants will have a medical history. They may have: Blood tests. Eye exam. Vision, eye pressure, and eye movements will be checked. The pupils may be dilated. The inside of the eyes may be photographed. Their thyroid gland felt while they swallow. Microperimetry. They will sit in front of a computer and press a button when they see a light on the screen. Fluorescein angiography. An intravenous line (IV) will be placed in an arm vein. A dye called fluorescein will be placed in the IV and travel through the veins to the blood vessels in the eyes. A camera will take pictures of the dye as it flows through the eye blood vessels.

A Study Investigating the Efficacy and Safety of Intravitreal Injections of ANX007 in Patients With...

Geographic Atrophy

This study is being conducted in participants with geographic atrophy (GA) secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD) to determine if intravitreal (IVT) injections of ANX007 reduce GA lesion growth rate. The results will be used to guide further development of ANX007 in participants with geographic atrophy. The total duration of participation is expected to be approximately 19 months.

COmparison of Clarus and Optos Ultrawide Field Imaging Systems for Geographic Atrophy

Macular DegenerationAge Related1 more

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare measurements of geographic atrophy (GA) area between several types of imaging, in order to assess accuracy. The main question to answer is which imaging device provides measurements that are most similar to the standard of care device. Participants will be patients of a retina doctor at University Station Eye Clinic with geographic atrophy, and can expect to be in the study for 60-75 minutes.

A Study of the SING IMT in an Israeli Cohort

Age-Related Macular DegenerationGeographic Atrophy

The objective of this single center study is to determine the safety of the smaller incision, new generation (SING), implantable miniature telescope (IMT) in a small sample of patients with moderate-severe central vision loss due to late-stage age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in an Israeli Cohort

Study to Evaluate Safety and Efficacy of EG-301 in Patients With Nonfocal Geographic Atrophy Secondary...

Non-Exudative (Dry) Age-related Macular Degeneration (dAMD)

This is a parallel, randomized, open-label, controlled study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of oral EG-301 in patients with intermediate non-exudative (dry) age-related macular degeneration (dAMD). Ninety patients will be randomly allocated in a 2:1 ratio to one of two treatment arms for at least 6 months duration. The two treatment arms are: AREDS2 supplements (Control Group, N=30) AREDS2 supplements plus EG-DPMP-01 150 mg daily (Experimental Group, N=60)

Retinal Photoreceptor Outer Segment Length Before and After Light Stimulation - a Pilot Study

Macular DegenerationDry1 more

It has been shown that reactions of human retinal photoreceptors to a light stimulus can be measured with custom-made, research prototype optical coherence tomography (OCT) systems. This can be used as a biomarker for the function of the photoreceptors. Due to the high technical demands on the system, however, the technique is currently not available for clinical purposes. In this pilot study a protocol to measure changes in retinal photoreceptor layer thickness before and after light stimulation shall be developed based on a commercial OCT system and newly developed algorithms. Other variables, such as circadian processes shall be investigated as well. After measurements in healthy volunteers, the protocol is planned to be applied in patients with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) to test for feasibility of the method in these patient groups.

High Resolution Retinal Imaging

StargardtsRetinitis Pigmentosa3 more

Studying the morphology and function of the normal and diseased retina in vivo is needed for advancing the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of retinal disease. This protocol uses an adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscope (AOSLO) to image the normal and diseased retina with individual cellular resolution non-invasively. The primary objective of this study is to obtain and analyze high-resolution images of the retina, in particular by imaging the cone photoreceptor mosaic, the retinal vasculature and other retinal layers. The study design will involve case-control studies, where cases are followed over time. Subjects age 7 and older may be invited to participate. The main research procedure involves retinal imaging with the AOSLO. The primary endpoint is the observation of differences in retinal images between subjects with and without retinal diseases. These changes will be quantified by examining the cell density, size, spacing and regularity of the cone photoreceptor mosaic, as well as examining the differences between other retinal layers.
