Deferasirox for Treating Patients Who Have Undergone Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant and Have Iron...
Iron OverloadAccelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia102 moreRATIONALE: Low dose deferasirox may be safe and effective in treating patients who have undergone hematopoietic stem cell transplant and have iron overload. PURPOSE: This pilot clinical trial studies safety and tolerability of deferasirox in hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients who have iron overload. Effect of low dose deferasirox on labile plasma iron is also examined.
Amifostine to Protect From Side Effects of PSCT in Treating Patients With Solid Tumors
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsChildhood Germ Cell Tumor7 moreRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining chemotherapy with peripheral stem cell transplantation may allow the doctor to give higher doses of chemotherapy drugs and kill more tumor cells. Chemoprotective drugs such as amifostine may protect normal cells from the side effects of high-dose chemotherapy. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of amifostine in protecting from the side effects of peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have high-risk or relapsed solid tumors.
Adjuvant Oral Decitabine and Tetrahydrouridine With or Without Celecoxib in People Undergoing Pulmonary...
Neoplasm MetastasisSarcoma3 moreBackground: Most patients who have surgery for cancer that has metastasized (spread) to the lungs later get more metastases that cannot be treated with surgery or chemotherapy. The drug resistance may be due to DNA changes in cancer cells that activate some genes and turn others off. Researchers want to test a combination of drugs for people with metasteses. Decitabine (DAC) may reverse the DNA changes. Tetrahydrouridine (THU) makes DAC last longer. Celecoxib may slow the progression of cancer. Objectives: To determine a safe dose of DAC and THU by mouth. To see if DAC-THU with or without celecoxib reactivates genes in lung metastases. Eligibility: Adults 18 years and older, with cancer in both lungs that can be treated with surgery. Design: Participants will be screened with: Blood, lung, and heart tests Scans Tests for viruses Pregnancy test Participants will have blood and stool tests. They will have surgery to remove metasteses in 1 lung. About 3 weeks later, they will have lung scans. If the disease is not back, participants will get DAC and THU with or without celecoxib, by mouth for 6 weeks. Participants will have more scans. If the disease is not worse, they will continue the study drugs for 4 more weeks. Participants will have more scans and heart and lung tests. They will have surgery to remove metasteses from the other lung. Participants will have weekly blood and urine tests, plus several blood draws the first 2 days of taking the drugs. Participants will have exams and blood tests before each surgery. Participants will have follow-up visits 1 and 3 months after the second surgery.
CT Scans in Treating Patients With Stage I Testicular Cancer After Undergoing Orchiectomy
Testicular Germ Cell TumorRATIONALE: Imaging procedures such as CT scans help the doctor in detecting cancer or the recurrence of cancer. Increasing the number of times a CT scan is given may improve the ability to detect stage I testicular cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized clinical trial to determine if there is a different result from two different schedules of CT scans in treating patients with stage I testicular cancer after undergoing orchiectomy.
Rolapitant Plus Olanzapine in Multiday Cisplatin Chemotherapy
Germ Cell TumorPhase II study of Rolapitant plus Olanzapine, Palonosetron, and Dexamethasone in patients with germ cell tumors undergoing 5-day Cisplatin-based chemotherapy
Aerosolized Azacytidine as Epigenetic Priming for Bintrafusp Alfa-Mediated Immune Checkpoint Blockade...
SarcomasMelanomas3 moreBackground: About one-third to one-half of all people dying of extrathoracic malignant diseases have cancer that has spread to the lungs. Surgery may help some people. But most people with pulmonary metastases do not survive long. Researchers want to see if a combination of drugs can help. Objective: To find a safe dose of Azacytidine, when taken as a fine mist that is inhaled (aerosolized Azacytidine), together with Bintrafusp Alfa to treat cancers that have spread to the lungs. Eligibility: Adults ages 18 and older who have cancer that has spread to the lungs, cannot be cured with surgery, and has not responded to standard treatments. Design: Participants will get Azacytidine by breathing treatments once a day for 3 days each week, for 3 weeks. The 3-week period is 1 cycle. Each course of treatment is 3 cycles. Once per cycle, participants will get Bintrafusp Alfa via IV. An IV is a small tube that is put into an arm vein. Participants will keep a diary of any side effects. Participants can take the study drugs for as long as they can continue treatment. Participants will have medical histories and physical exams. They will give blood, urine, and lung lining fluid samples. Tumor samples will be taken via bronchoscopy. They will have lung function tests. Participants will have an imaging scan that shows how spray particles move in their airway when they inhale. They will have tumor imaging scans of the chest and brain. Participants will have a follow-up visit 30 days after they stop treatment....
Diagnostic Study of Patients With Stage I Testicular Cancer
Testicular Germ Cell TumorRATIONALE: Diagnostic procedures may improve a doctor's ability to predict the recurrence of testicular cancer. PURPOSE: Diagnostic trial to detect the risk of recurrent disease in patients who have stage I testicular cancer and who have undergone orchiectomy within the previous 12 weeks.
Peripheral Stem Cell Transplantation in Treating Patients With Melanoma or Small Cell Lung, Breast,...
Breast CancerKidney Cancer3 moreRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining chemotherapy with peripheral stem cell transplantation may allow the doctor to give higher doses of chemotherapy drugs and kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have melanoma or small cell lung, breast, testicular, or kidney cancer that is metastatic or that cannot be treated with surgery.
Positron Emission Tomography in Detecting Testicle Cancer
Testicular Germ Cell TumorRATIONALE: Imaging procedures such as positron emission tomography may improve the ability to detect the extent of cancer and allow doctors to plan more effective treatment for patients who have testicle cancer. PURPOSE: Diagnostic trial to study the effectiveness of positron emission tomography using fludeoxyglucose F 18 in predicting relapse in patients who have stage I germ cell tumor of the testicle.
Nivolumab in Platinum Recurrent or Refractory Metastatic Germ Cell Tumors
Germ Cell TumorsTo assess the clinical activity of nivolumab monotherapy, as measured by the investigator-assessed clinical benefit rate (CBR), in patients with platinum-recurrent or platinum-refractory metastatic germ cell tumors (GCT). CBR is defined by sum of complete responses (CR), partial responses (PR) and stable disease (SD) for at least 3 months, with stable or declining tumor markers (αFP and HCG), using Response Evaluation Criteria In Solid Tumors (RECIST 1.1).
