Corneal Densitometry in Acute Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma

Acute Primary Angle-closure Glaucoma

Purpose: Our purpose was to investigate the laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) induced changes in corneal densitometry in acute primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) cases during the post-laser 1 month period. Material and methods: This prospective study included 21 eyes of 21 cases with first acute attack of PACG. All the eyes underwent LPI with neodymium: yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd: YAG) laser after the intraocular pressure (IOP) decreased to normal levels with maximal systemic and topical anti-glaucoma treatment and complete regression of clinically significant corneal edema. Central corneal thickness (CCT) and corneal density values were measured by densitometry software of Pentacam HR-Scheimpflug corneal topography over a 12-mm diameter of the cornea just before LPI and at the first week and the first month after LPI. Kolmogorov smirnov and paired-t tests were used for statistical analysis.

Investigating the Neuroprotective Effect of Cop-1 (Copaxone) in Acute Primary Angle Closure

GlaucomaAngle-closure2 more

This is a randomised controlled trial to assess the neuroprotective effect of Cop-1 (Copaxone) in patients with acute primary angle closure (APAC). The standardized management of APAC will include medical therapy to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP), followed by laser peripheral iridotomy. Cop-1 will be administered in addition to standard therapy as a subcutaneous dose once within 24 hours of presentation, and then one week later (total 2 injections). The control group will have placebo in addition to standard regimen. Subjects in the study will have visual field test performed with the Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer II, retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) thickness measured with the Stratus optical coherence tomography (OCT) and Optic nerve head evaluated with the Heidelberg retinal tomography (HRT). At least 2 baseline visual field tests will also be performed in the first week. Subsequent visits will be at week 4, 8, 12 and 16. The outcome criteria will be difference in visual field, RNFL thickness, and optic nerve head structural changes.

Intraocular Pressure Control After Anterior Segment Laser - Comparison Between 2 Drugs

GlaucomaNarrow Angle

The purpose of this study is to compare the intra-ocular (IOP) control efficacy between brimonidine 0.1% vs. 0.2% after laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI).

Comparison of Anterior Chamber Paracentesis and Conventional Mannitol Infusion in Patients With...

GlaucomaAcute Primary Angle-closure Glaucoma

The investigators wanted to reported the results of immediate anterior chamber paracentesis (ACP), compared to Mannitol infusion, in patients with acute primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG). In this study, the investigators first divided patients into three sub-groups according to their initial intraocular pressure (IOP) for analyzing the differences of IOP control, severity of corneal edema, waiting time for laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI), and visual outcome between ACP and Mannitol infusion.

Prevalence of Corneal Astigmatism Before Glaucoma Surgery in Chinese Patients With Primary Angle-closure...

GlaucomaAngle-Closure1 more

Clear-lens extraction has been considered as first-line therapy for primary angle closure glaucoma(PACG) and application of toric intraocular lens (IOLs) leads to better postoperative visual acuity, yet little is known about the prevalence of corneal astigmatism in PACG patients. We intend to make biometry examination for Chinese PACG patients, to obtain keratometry (K) , axial length (AL) and so on, and demographics data will also be recorded. We will study the prevalence of corneal astigmatism before glaucoma surgery in Chinese patients with PACG. Furthermore, differences of corneal astigmatism between primary angle-closure glaucoma and cataract patients will be explored. Finally, the prevalence of corneal astigmatism before glaucoma surgery in Chinese patients with PACG will be portrayed and can be instructive to the IOLs' manufactering.

Evaluation of Ocular Biometry in PACD With Two Swept Source Optical Coherence Tomography Devices...

Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma

Purpose: To investigate agreement between 2 swept source OCT biometers, IOL M.aster700 and Anterion, in various ocular biometry and intraocular lens (IOL) calculations of primary angle-closure disease (PACD). Methods: This was a prospective study conducted in a tertiary eye care centre involving biometric measurements obtained with 2 devices in phakic eye with diagnosis of PACD. Mean difference and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) with confidence limits were assessed, and calculations of estimated residual refraction of the IOL were analysed using Barrett's formula.

Prevalence of Ocular Surface Disease in Malaysian Glaucoma Patients

Primary Open-angle GlaucomaPrimary Angle-Closure Glaucoma3 more

This is a prospective, multi-centre, cross sectional observational study to determine the prevalence of ocular surface disease (OSD) in glaucoma patients, nationwide. The study also analyses sub group of OSD prevalence, stratified according to the treatment types (i.e. preserved, preservative-free, and combination of preservative-free and preserved eyedrops), and illustrates the patient perspective on OSD.
