Safety and Feasibility of the ELIOS System in POAG Patients
GlaucomaPrimary Open AngleEvaluation of the safety and effectiveness of the ELIOS System procedure to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in adult subjects with mild to moderate primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG)
The Effect of Lumify™ on Ocular Redness, Intraocular Pressure, and Eyelid Position in Glaucoma Patients...
GlaucomaGlaucoma6 moreGlaucoma represents a group of conditions that cause damage to the optic nerve and can lead to irreversible vision loss. Current treatments are aimed at lowering intraocular pressure while minimizing medication side effects. Lumify™ (Brimonidine Tartrate Ophthalmic Solution 0.025%) is an FDA-approved medication for alleviating eye redness, a common side effect of glaucoma medications. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of Lumify™ on eye redness, intraocular pressure, and eyelid position in patients with glaucoma who are already using the Brimonidine 0.1%, 0.15% or 0.2% eye drops.
Regulation of Intraocular Pressure in Glaucoma Patients by Acupressure
Primary Open Angle GlaucomaAcupressureThe purpose of this clinical trial is to implement acupressure twice daily and monitor the changes in intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with different levels of glaucoma. The study aims to investigate the effects of this method on IOP, visual field, retinal nerve fiber layer thickness measured by optical coherence tomography, blood vessel density, and macular ganglion cell layer thickness and density in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG).
Retinal Photoreceptor Outer Segment Length Before and After Light Stimulation - a Pilot Study
Macular DegenerationDry1 moreIt has been shown that reactions of human retinal photoreceptors to a light stimulus can be measured with custom-made, research prototype optical coherence tomography (OCT) systems. This can be used as a biomarker for the function of the photoreceptors. Due to the high technical demands on the system, however, the technique is currently not available for clinical purposes. In this pilot study a protocol to measure changes in retinal photoreceptor layer thickness before and after light stimulation shall be developed based on a commercial OCT system and newly developed algorithms. Other variables, such as circadian processes shall be investigated as well. After measurements in healthy volunteers, the protocol is planned to be applied in patients with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) to test for feasibility of the method in these patient groups.
Exercise Intervention in Primary Open-angle Glaucoma
GlaucomaOpen-Angle1 moreEYE-FIT is a randomized clinical trial with a two-arm parallel design aimed at assessing the impact of performing a structured and supervised physical training program on the different variables associated with glaucoma progression in pharmacologically treated primary open angle glaucoma patients. This intervention will include a supervised 24-weeks concurrent (endurance + resistance) training program comparing its influence to the standard care.
Nicotinamide and Pyruvate for Open Angle Glaucoma: A Randomized Clinical Study
Primary Open Angle GlaucomaThe objective of this study is to determine if a combination of oral nicotinamide and pyruvate (N&P) can maintain eye health as compared to placebo while standard-of-care intraocular pressure-lowering glaucoma medications are used to treat glaucoma. A total of up to 188 participants will be enrolled and randomized 1:1 to receive N&P or placebo for 87 weeks (20 months). Participants will be followed for a total of 91 weeks (21 months).
Efficacy of the Nanodropper Device on Intraocular Pressure in Patients With Glaucoma
GlaucomaOcular Hypertension1 moreGlaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. Previous studies demonstrate that smaller eye drops used in the treatment of glaucoma are just as efficacious as their larger counterparts. The proposed study hopes to demonstrate the non-inferiority of using Nanodropper to lower intraoccular pressure (IOP) in glaucoma patients compared to standard of care eye drops.
Investigating the Genetic Basis of Pseudoexfoliation Syndrome, Angle-closure Glaucoma and Primary...
GlaucomaThere is increasing evidence that there are genetic risk factors for several forms of glaucoma, such as glaucoma caused by pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PXF) ,primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) and primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). The aim of the present prospective, multi-center, case-control study is to identify susceptibility genes/loci for PXF, PACG and POAG using a whole genome association (WGA) approach.
