Effect of Inulin-type Fructose Extracted From Jerusalem Artichoke on Improving Prediabetic State...

Prediabetes

The trial was a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-controlled, exploratory clinical study.Through the intervention of soluble dietary fiber in the pre-type 2 diabetic population, the change of blood glucose spectrum before and after intervention can show the effect of this intervention on the outcome, and further elucidate the effect of soluble dietary fiber intervention on the level of insulin resistance and its effect on outcome. Helps to prevent the more scientific and effective prevention of type 2 diabetes from pre-diabetes. Subjects who met the criteria were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group, after 24 weeks of intervention, the incidence of blood sugar reversion to normal was main observed. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of soluble dietary fiber treatment regimens on the conversion rate of pre-type 2 diabetes (converted to normal blood glucose, type 2 diabetes, or stable in the stage of impaired glucose tolerance). The secondary objective was to study the improvement of insulin resistance and changes in intestinal flora after intervention.

Reducing Cardiometabolic Risk and Promoting Functional Health in Older Adults With Obesity and Prediabetes...

ObesityPreDiabetes1 more

Obesity and pre-diabetes threatens the overall health and functional independence of older adults but lifestyle weight management for diabetes prevention, soon to be reimbursed by Medicare, can reduce this burden. The current 24-month study will enroll adults, ages 60 and older, through senior community centers and research registries. The investigators will study how two long term weight loss maintenance programs, both using group telephone sessions to support health behavior change, impact meaningful health outcomes. If successful, this project will provide a sustainable intervention model for healthy aging services that can benefit older adults and society.

Effect of Totum-63, Active Ingredient of Valedia, on Glucose and Lipid Homeostasis on Subjects With...

PrediabetesType 2 Diabetes4 more

Given the data on the active ingredients of Totum-63, this research aims to evaluate the effect of its chronic consumption (24 weeks) on glucose and lipid homeostasis and especially on fasting plasma glucose in volunteers with abdominal obesity associated with impaired glucose tolerance or untreated type 2 diabetes and hypertriglyceridemia. This clinical study is designed to estimate the effect of Totum-63, active ingredient of Valedia, on several glucose and lipid homeostasis related parameters since these data are still unknown for this specific dietary supplement formula. Collected data will provide more reliable information which may be used to plan a subsequent larger main study.

Low-Carbohydrate Dietary Pattern on Glycemic Outcomes Trial

DiabetesPreDiabetes6 more

The proposed randomized controlled trial will test the effect of a low-carbohydrate diet on hemoglobin A1c among individuals with elevated hemoglobin A1c that are within the range of prediabetes or diabetes. Results may provide evidence about the role of carbohydrate restriction in individuals with or at high risk of type 2 diabetes.

Personalized Nutrition for Pre-Diabetes

Pre Diabetes

The Personalized Nutrition Project for Prediabetes (PNP3) study will investigate whether personalized diet intervention will improve postprandial blood glucose levels and other metabolic health factors in individuals with prediabetes as compared with the standard low-fat diet.

Effect of Linagliptin + Metformin vs Metformin Alone in Patients With Prediabetes

Prediabetic StateInsulin Resistance

Type 2 diabetes is a worldwide epidemic disease, and preventive strategies are needed to face this health problem. The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effect of linagliptin + metformin vs metformin alone on physiopathological parameters, such as glucose metabolism, insulin resistance, insulin secretion and pancreatic beta cell function in patients with impaired fasting glucose plus impaired glucose tolerance, during 24 months.

Effectiveness of Nurse-coordinated Follow-up Program in Primary Care for People at Risk for T2DM...

Pre-diabetesCardiovascular Risk Factor2 more

Previous Icelandic studies regarding prevalence of diabetes have mostly used data from the capital area. Information on the proportion of people at risk at developing T2DM or having undiagnosed T2DM among people living in rural Northern Iceland is unknown. Clinical guidelines recommend that patients with prediabetes (diabetes warning signs) should be referred to a counselling program. The study will evaluate effectiveness of nurse-coordinated Guided Self-Determination (GSD) follow up program toward health promotion, for people at risk of T2DM.

Optimisation of Exercise Intensity During High-Intensity Interval Training for Glucose Control in...

PreDiabetes

The aim of the current study is to identify the optimal exercise intensity of the high-intensity phase during a bout of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) to increase glucose clearance in a prediabetic population. The study is a within-subjects randomised crossover design with participants attending the laboratory on seven occasions over a two week period. The first visit will be to perform medical screening and to obtain informed consent. The second visit will be to collect baseline measures, select meal plans, to collect an activity tracker and to complete a ramped exercise test to establish exercise intensity thresholds. The third visit will be to fit an interstitial glucose sensor and to collect the standardised meals which will be provided to each participant. Visits four, five, and six will be the experimental trials. The seventh visit will be to remove the interstitial glucose sensor and return the activity tracker.
