This randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial will evaluate the efficacy of continuous apomorphine infusion compared to placebo in PD patients with visual hallucinations, inadequately controlled with clozapine and cholinesterase inhibitors.

Many individuals with schizophrenia struggle with auditory verbal hallucinations (AVHs). In some cases, these AVHs can be resistant to medication treatment. Previous research has found that transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) can be helpful in treating symptoms in individuals with other psychiatric disorders, such as depression. This study will assess if tDCS is effective in treating AVHs in individuals with schizophrenia. tDCS is a non-invasive form of brain stimulation which uses a weak current to temporarily excite or inhibit underlying cortical regions with small electrodes placed on the scalp. tDCS has been found to improve mental processes, including attention and memory function. In addition to examining the effect of tDCS on AVHs, this study will assess the effects of tDCS on mood as well as brain electrical activity with electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings. As an additional component, participants will be invited to participate in neuroimaging. Using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), brain activity and structure will be examined before and after tDCS. tDCS will be administered twice daily for 5 consecutive days for a total of 10 sessions. These study findings will contribute to the understanding of the impact of tDCS on AVHs, and will also increase knowledge of sound and memory/cognitive processing in individuals with schizophrenia.

The present study aims to examine the efficacy of transcranial direct current stimulation on the severity of auditory hallucinations.

ReMindCare is an app designed by the Unit of Psychiatry at the Clinical Hospital of Valencia in liaison with the Polytechnic University of Valencia. This e-Health app gathers information about the clinical health status of patients with Psychotic Disorder Diagnose through daily and weekly brief assessments. This information is displayed in a restricted access website, where clinicians can visualize data from patients as well as download pdf reports of main data collected by the app. These reports can be attached to the electronic clinical report of the patient at the hospital database, being accessible for consultation for every clinician involved in treatment of the patient. Furthermore, ReMindCare produces different alarms which notify clinicians about variations into patients health status or the cessation of using the app. Moreover, patients can also deliberately generate an urgent consultation alarm. The introduction of ReMindCare app into clinical practice will follow a clinical trial structure in which treatment as usual (TAU) of patients from a First Episode of Psychosis Unit will be compared to ReMindCare app intervention program. After participants eligible for inclusion complete baseline assessments they will be randomly allocated to one of the two groups (Intervention or TAU) by a basic single blind randomization in which an independent researcher will perform the allocation using a computerized random number generator. Information collected through the app and variations into clinical data will be analyzed among time. First assessment of these data will be conducted after 6 months of patient´s enrollment into the study. Subsequent analysis will be conducted yearly.

The aim of this study is to show presence of cognitive and emotional factors on the beginning and persistence of auditory hallucinations in non-psychotic children. Investigators will describe a significant link between this factors and hallucinations in a sample of non-psychotic children. The results of this sample will be comparing to another group of children of the same age, sex and diagnosis, but without hallucination. Finally, investigators will control the persistence of hallucination on the first group after a six month period.

Schizophrenia is a chronic, severe, and disabling brain disease. Auditory hallucinations are the most frequent symptoms with an incident of 50% to 70% in patients. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) can significantly reduce symptoms of schizophrenia. TMS is capable of inducing changes in the electrical activities of the brain in humans. The purpose of this trial is to study the use of TMS to decrease auditory hallucinations in schizophrenia.

The study is a pilot study of Cognitive therapy for people with psychosis who have distressing visual hallucinations. The aim is to evaluate whether this is an acceptable, feasible and effective treatment. This is a pilot study and there is no randomisation to either CBT or treatment as usual (TAU). If a participant is allocated to the cognitive therapy plus TAU condition then the participant will meet with a therapist on initially a weekly basis and receive up to 8 sessions of CBT over a 2 month period. The participant will also have regular assessments conducted by a researcher who is independent to the treatment group. It is predicted that those people receiving CBT will improve on measures of symptoms, and particularly for measures of visual hallucinations.

Auditory verbal hallucinations (AVH) are commonly reported as source of distress, disability and mortality in schizophrenia. Despite proven efficacy of antipsychotics, many patients still experience drug-refractory AVH. It has been postulated that AVH is maintained by negative emotions. Yet, little is known about the temporal relationship and underlying mechanisms between negative affect and AVH. Utilizing both an ecologically-validated method and brain imaging technique, this study aims to uncover the role of emotions in the maintenance of psychotic symptoms.

Schizophrenia is a severe psychiatric disorder that affects approximately 1% of the population worldwide. Although pathophysiology of this disease remains unclear, a growing interest is emerging for low-level sensory function, acknowledging that deficits in early stages of sensory processing are related to higher-order cognitive disturbances in schizophrenia. In the field of auditory processing, symptoms as auditory-hallucinations were found correlated with disabilities to discriminate psychoacoustic parameters of sounds.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the changes in various aspects of auditory verbal hallucinations during 24-week antipsychotic treatment in naturalistic condition.
