The Effect of Foot Orthoses on the Braking Response Time

Hallux Valgus

Patients often seek advice from their treating doctor if they are able to drive with a foot orthosis after a first metatarsal osteotomy for symptomatic hallux valgus and/or after an additional forefoot surgery. This challenging question is of obvious importance for the patient and other road users. Previous studies already issued driving ability after different orthopedic procedures and with knee and ankle devices on the brake reaction time but missed to address the same for foot orthoses after hallux valgus or forefoot surgery. This missing evidence made us evaluate the influence of wearing a foot orthosis after a first metatarsal osteotomy or forefoot surgery on driving ability (brake response time; BRT). The overall time frame is about nine weeks; each appointment for BRT measurement takes about fifteen to twenty minutes. The first BRT measurement is one day before the foot surgery without a foot orthosis (normal shoe)and with the orthoses (control run) (1) at two days (2), two weeks (3), four weeks (4) and six weeks (5) after the operation with a HVS and a FRS and eight weeks postoperative without a foot orthoses (6).

Multi-Plane Hallux Valgus Correction With the Phantom® Nail

ArthrodesisBunion1 more

The goal of this research study is to determine the change in frontal plane rotation of the 1st metatarsal from pre to post arthrodesis of the 1st TMT joint with the Phantom® Intramedullary Nail combined with a supinating reduction technique. The study hypothesis is that multi-planar correction can be achieved with the Phantom® Intramedullary Nail.

Prospective Observational Study for the Evaluation of VEOFIX Varisation Staples

Hallux Valgus

This clinical investigation was led as a post-market clinical follow-up study (post-market device development stage). Therefore, its objectives were as follows: To assess functional clinical score's evolution, To evaluate patient's satisfaction To confirm safety of varisation staples The target population for this study was any adult patient implanted with VEOFIX varisation staples in their intended uses between 15/02/2021 and 15/05/2021. Patients were implanted and followed as per standard of care led in the investigational site. The following regulation and guidelines were followed for this investigation: Standard ISO 14155:2020 "Good Clinical Practice"undirectly applicable; Regulation (UE) 2016/679 (RGPD) ; Regulation (UE) 2017/745 (MDR) ; MEDDEV 2.12.1; Local regulation (loi " jardé ", loi " informatique et libertés "). As per its design, the investigation is considered as involving human beings, and therefore require submission to an ethic committee or declaration to a Competent Authority (ANSM) and CPP. This study was registered on CPP (CPP Ile de France VII).

Comparative Evaluation of Two Different Post-Operative Analgesia After Hallux Valgus Correction...

PainPostoperative

Background: Recent studies showed the efficiency of several techniques of anesthesia in foot surgery. The new mini-invasive surgical approaches should require less analgesia and rapid motor recovery after surgery. The aim of this study was the evaluation of two different techniques on postoperative analgesia and motor recovery after hallux valgus correction in one-day surgery patients.

Off Axis View Radiographs Assessing Hallux Valgus Interphalangeus in Hallux Valgus Deformity

Hallux Valgus InterphalangeusHallux Valgus

In hallux valgus deformity an additional deformity of the proximal phalangeal bone can be observed frequently as well. Due to a hyperpronation of the greater toe on standardized radiographs the deformity defining angles are likely to be underestimated. Therefore the investigators developed an off axis view radiograph for determining the real deformity. This study compares the standardized and the off axis view radiographs.

Minimally Invasive Distal Chevron in Comparison to the Reverdin-Isham Osteotomy for Hallux Valgus...

Hallux Valgus and Bunion

This study analyses the Reverdin Isham procedure, which is the most popular minimally invasive surgical hallux valgus correction method and the minimally invasive chevron osteotomy, representing the standard technique of open surgery. It is hypothesized that the two techniques would show significant differences in regard to radiological outcome (Hypothesis 1), clinical outcome (Hypothesis 2) and development of radiological recurrence (Hypothesis 3).
