A Close Examination of Patient Experiences in Cluster Headache Clinical Research

Cluster Headache

Historically, participation in clinical studies is highly skewed towards particular demographic groups of people. This research will invite several participants to gather a wide range of information on clinical trial experiences for cluster headache patients. The aim of the study is to identify the factors that limit the ability of a person to enroll in, as well as complete a clinical trial for treatment of cluster headache. The data collected from this study will help improve future outcomes for all cluster headache patients as well as those in under-represented demographic groups.

Feasibility of a Developmentally-tailored Mobile App for Tracking Mood and Pain in Children With...

Primary Headache Disorder

This study aims to inform the continued development of a mobile app intended to support the treatment of CYP with migraine. After extensive public and patient involvement, Happyr Health has developed a mobile app that allows children and young people to track headache attacks and emotional wellbeing and to access coping techniques. With the use of gamification and storytelling elements, the app aims to engage children to be an active part in tracking and coping with their headaches. The outcomes of this study will inform future adaptations and development cycles of the Happyr Health app. 15 participants aged 10-16 will access the Happyr app for 8 weeks (= intervention). Primary outcomes of acceptability and implementation will be measured via surveys following the 8-week intervention in the app.

Protective HA Factors

Post Concussive Headache

This is a naturalistic study of 100 migraineurs and 75 post concussive headache patients who will be asked to record their headaches, medications, sleep and other behaviors in a smartphone app called Curelator. The software was developed to identify possible headache triggers. We seek to determine whether there might be protective headache factors. Patients will be given audio files with relaxation therapies. We seek to understand whether this self relaxation therapy and/or traditional evidence based behavioral treatment recommended during a patient visit is protective against migraine attacks.

CVA in Patients Suffering From Decreased Consciousness, Confusion or Headaches to an Emergency Room...

CVA

A CVA occurs when there is a sudden interruption of blood supply to the brain. Fast identification of CVA is crucial in order to refer the patient to an appropriate medical center as well as to direct him/her to a suitable treatment upon arrival to the Medical Center, in order to minimize the permanent damage to the brain. In this study, we are evaluating a tool for detecting CVA based on EEG (electroencephalograph) data analysis using innovative algorithm. The system is comprised of four electrodes, reference electrode and earphones for auditory stimulation. In the study, 120 patients arriving to the emergency room with decreased consciousness, severe headaches or dizziness will be monitored for five-minute each, with EEG accompanied with auditory stimulation. The EEG analysis will be performed based on the synchronization of the front and back hemispheres. During CVA, specific hemisphere is damaged, therefore desynchronization is expected. The purpose of this study is to develop a tool for identifying CVA in patients who have no clear CVA related signs.

International Headache Registry Study

Headache DisordersPrimary7 more

In the International Headache and Vertigo Registration Study, patients aged 4-99 years with headache (primary headache and secondary headache such as migraine and tension type headache), vertigo (vertigo diseases such as vestibular migraine) and chronic pain (fibromyalgia and other diseases) were collected. The biomarkers, imaging features, right-to-left shunt of the heart (lung), genetic characteristics, treatment, and outcome (in relation to other diseases) of headache-related diseases were studied, and long-term follow-up was planned.
