Cognitive Function and Autonomic Regulation in Patients With Migraine
Migraine DisordersIndividuals with migraine have impaired cognitive function and worse autonomic function compared to individuals without migraine. Objective: To evaluate the autonomic function and cognition in young individuals with migraine compared to healthy individuals without migraine. Methods: Cross-sectional study will be carried out at University of Fortaleza with individuals with previous migraines diagnoses and healthy volunteers without migraines. Volunteers of both sexes, aged between 18 and 60 years, clinically diagnosed with migraine or not, who have not undergone any type of drug treatment for at least three months and who accept to participate in the research will be enrolled in the research. Individuals who have comorbidities such as hypertension and Diabetes mellitus (type I and II), respiratory, cardiac and/or chronic vascular diseases, have suffered any significant facial trauma, have a cognitive problem or dysfunction associated with cognition, or have suffered any episode of stroke or transient ischemic attack prior to conducting this research will not be enrolled. Participants will be assessed through cognitive tests, and autonomic function such as Neck Disability Index, Migraine Disability Assessment Questionnaire, Stroop Colo test, digit symbol substitution test, Addenbrooke's cognitive examination, mini-mental state examination, Montreal Cognitive Assessment, Trail Making Test A and B and reaction time test and by MindWave Mobile® devices and Polar V800®.
Ictal and Interictal Inflammatory Markers in Migraine
MigraineThe purpose of this study is to evaluate blood levels of several proteins that may be altered in the inflammation associated with migraine headaches. These blood levels will be evaluated in individuals during an acute migraine attack and compared to their levels when pain free. The investigators study hypothesis is that the pro inflammatory proteins in the blood will be greater than the levels of these proteins when evaluated during a pain free period.
Does Treximet Improve Productivity and Patient Satisfaction Due to Sustained Response and Consistency...
Workplace Migraine TreatmentResearchers want to learn about work productivity after treatment of a migraine headache with your usual migraine medication as compared to your work productivity after treatment with Treximet. During this research subjects will take Treximet to treat 3 workday migraine attacks. For a second part of the research subjects will take their usual prescribed medication for 3 workday migraine attacks. The subjects will complete questionnaires after treating each migraine.

The Effects of a Long-lasting Infusion of Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) in Episodic Migraine...
MigrainePain4 moreVasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) is a peptide of 28 amino acid residues that belongs to the glucagon/secretin superfamily of peptides. Along with other neuropeptides, such as calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP), it is released from the trigeminal afferents and exerts a strong vasodilating activity on the cranial vasculature. Especially, it shares 70% structure with PACAP and acts on the same receptors. But, unlike it, VIP cannot induce a long-lasting vasodilation and has a modest capability to induce migraine attacks. Whether it may induce migraine-like attacks in migraine patients, as a twenty-minute infusion of PACAP, is unknown.

MigraineThe main purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of erenumab on medication-specific treatment satisfaction.
Cerebri Biofeedback Feasibility Trial
Episodic MigraineThe purpose of this study is to investigate feasibility, usability, safety, efficacy, and tolerability of Cerebri biofeedback treatment for adults with episodic migraine. In the study, the app-based biofeedback treatment Cerebri for migraines in adults will be tested. By using biofeedback, bodily signals that are thought to be associated with migraines, are measured. During the treatment, one sensor is attached on the shoulder to measure activity in the shoulder and neck muscles and one sensor is attached to the index finger to measure temperature and heart rate variability. By getting on-screen feedback on the phone, the user can learn techniques to reduce muscle tension, and increase finger temperature and heart rate variability. Reduced muscle tension, as well as increase in finger temperature and heart rate variability is a sign of relaxation and a deactivation of the nervous system, which can lead to fewer and less serious migraine attacks.
