Quest Sound Recover (SR2) vs. Venture SR2

Hearing Loss

Goal of this study is to determine the benefit of an improved feature on a new hearing aid platform. To investigate the improvements of this feature is compared on a new and older hearing aid platform. The obtained results will be used for future improvement for this feature. This feature should improve the speech understanding and speech recognition of the hearing aid user.

mHealth Technologies for Hearing Aid Users

Hearing Loss

This study will establish the feasibility of a theoretically-driven, personalised educational intervention delivered through mobile technologies in first-time hearing aid users. Namely, the C2Hear (https://www.youtube.com/C2HearOnline) multimedia videos, or Reusable Learning Objects (RLOs) (Ferguson et al., 2015; 2016), will be repurposed into short 'bite-sized' mobile-enabled RLOs (mRLOs).The development of the intervention will be based on a recently developed comprehensive model of health behaviour change (COM-B) (Michie et al., 2014). The intervention will be tailored to individuals' needs, and incorporate greater user interactivity and self-evaluation.

Intracochlear Potentials: Volta Study

Hearing Loss

Collection of normative voltage tomography data during and/or immediately after electrode insertion into the cochlea using Surgical Assistant (SA16) research software and postoperatively at activation, three and twelve months post-activation with CS19 research software in adults who are receiving a Cochlear Nucleus CI512, CI422, CI522 or CI532 cochlear implant.

Validation of uHear™ as a Screening Tool to Detect Hearing Impairment in Elderly Cancer Patients...

Hearing LossCancer

Over the last few years, there has been a considerable interest in the development of screening tools to assess the capability of elderly cancer patients to tolerate anti-cancer treatment. Therefore, the NCCN Guidelines in Senior Adult Oncology recommend an assessment of co-morbid conditions that are likely to interfere with cancer treatment and tolerability. As presbyacusis is common in an older population, elderly cancer patients are at high risk for social isolation and a reduced quality of life. Therefore, in this project the investigators aim to validatie uHear™ as a quick and reliable screening tool to screen for presbyacusisf in routine clinical oncology practice.

Comparison of the New Fitting Method Cochlear Nucleus Fitting Software (NFS) With the Established...

Hearing Loss

The purpose of this study is to evaluate if the new and simplified fitting method with Cochlear Nucleus Fitting Software (a major component of a suite of tools which form the Clinical Care Innovation) provides Cochlear Implants Recipients with the same hearing outcome as the current and established clinical fitting method with Cochlear Nucleus Custom SoundTM Suite. The Clinical Care Innovation method reduces fitting to simple volume, bass and trebles adjustments, operations which are familiar to anyone who has used an audio player.

Pethidine Analgesia and Neonatal Hearing Screening Test

Hearing LossNewborn Complication

Neonatal hearing screening may fail due to some perinatal and neonatal factors. It is well known that false positivity in newborn hearing screening increases cost and maternal anxiety and anxiety. There is still widespread concern about the use of opoid analgesics to relieve pain during labor. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of pethidine administered during labor on neonatal hearing screening test false positivity rates.

Quality Control of CE-Certified Phonak Hearing Aids - 2019_34

Hearing Loss

Phonak Hearing Devices pass through different development and study phases. At an early stage, feasibility studies are conducted to investigate new algorithms, features and functions in an isolated manner. If the benefit is proven, their performance is then investigated regarding interdependency between all available algorithms, features and functions running in parallel in a hearing aid (pivotal/pre-validation studies) and, resulting from the pre-validation studies, they get optimized. Prior to product launch, the Phonak Hearing Systems get reviewed by a final quality control in terms of clinical trials. This is a validation study, investigating improved algorithms, features, functions and wearing comfort. This will be a clinical investigation which will be conducted mono centric at Sonova AG Headquarters based in Stäfa (Switzerland).

Evaluation of the Global Auditory Nerve Activity for Exploration of Hearing in Humans

Hearing Loss

To date, all the electrophysiological methods for auditory testing rely on the measure on synchronous evoked auditory nerve activity. This measure only takes into account the response of the first action potential in every auditory fibber, but provides no information about the neural response during a sustained activity. This can explain why in experimental models, a loss of more of 80% of auditory nerve fibbers cannot be detected by usual electrophysiological measurements. In this study we aim at investigating the global spontaneous and sound evoked auditory nerve activity by recording directly the electrical field by an electrode placed directly on the auditory nerve of subjects during a skull base surgical procedure. We expected to demonstrated differences in the electrical activity between subjects with or without hearing loss.

Study of Binaural Squelch Effect in Unilateral Otosclerosis

Otosclerosis of Middle EarUnilateral Hearing Loss

Patients with unilateral transmission hypoacusis due to otosclerosis undergoing stapedectomy surgery will be prospectively included. They will be undergoing a free field vocal audiometry using the Oldenburg MATRIX software to evaluated the squelch effect gain between audiometry before and after 9months after surgery. Our hypothesis is to show a squelch effect with the rehabilitation of the binaural audition.

Study of Quality Perception on Music in New Cochlear Implanted Subjects Using or Not a Fine Structure...

Sensorineural Hearing LossBilateral

Main objective: Show the superiority of Fine Structure (FS4) strategy compared to Continuous Interleaved Sampling (HDCIS) strategy on the qualitative preference for the listening of musical pieces. Secondary objectives Show the superiority of FS4 strategy compared to the HDCIS strategy on the perception of musical elements (contour test). Analyze the link between the results of musical perception tests and the subjective preference of musical listening. Show the non inferiority of FS4 strategy compared to the HDCIS strategy on the perception of speech elements. Analyze the link between the results of musical perception tests and the results of the perception of speech elements. Analyze the qualitative multidimensional perception with HDCIS and FS4
