The Neuro Zti Cochlear Implant System Efficacy and Safety in Adults
Hearing LossSensorineural3 moreThe purpose of the study is to assess the efficacy and the safety profile of the Neuro Cochlear Implant System (CIS) in adults with severe-to-profound hearing loss.
Clinical Evaluation of Bass and Treble Controls for CI Subjects
Hearing LossThe clinical study is designed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of recipient controlled Bass and Treble.
CROS and Quality of Life of Elderly Cochlear Implant Recipients and Their Care Givers
Hearing ImpairmentThe purpose of this study is to assess the effect of the Naida Link CROS device on speech understanding in challenging listening situations and on the quality of life in unilateral CI recipients and their frequent communication partners. We hypothesize that: Unilateral CI recipients will obtain higher speech understanding scores with the CROS device in challenging listening conditions Use of the CROS device will lead to positive changes in ratings on Quality of Life measures for (i) unilateral CI recipients, and (ii) their frequent communication partners A frequent communication partner (FCP) is an individual (a family member, or a friend, or a care taker, or a significant other, or a colleague, etc.) who has at least two hours of in-person interactions with the CI recipient every week.
Long Term Clinical Investigation to Evaluate Clinical Performance, Safety and Patient Reported Outcomes...
Hearing LossThe aim of this clinical investigation is to collect long-term safety and performance data with the Active Osseointegrated Steady-State Implant System by following subjects from the previous Osia clinical investigation CBAS5751. In addition, questions regarding device satisfaction, sound satisfaction, usability and health care utilisation will be asked.
A Standard Music Program Compared to an Optimized Music Program
Hearing LossThe trial will test whether a standard music program that is an offset to the general program provides the same benefit as a music program that is individually customized for each test participant. The trial seeks to investigate the benefit received by musicians that regularly play an instrument and belong to an organized music group or orchestra instead of people that listen to music.
A Comparative Clinical Investigation of Musician's Preference With Hearing Aids
Hearing LossFor this study, Bernafon AG will carry out testing with participants with hearing loss to compare a dedicated music program to a general listening program. The Bernafon hearing aids used for the current study are CEmarked and will be released to the market in early 2022. The goal is to determine whether musicians will perceive a difference and prefer the music program over the default listening program in real-life situations. The devices will also be validated for performance before their release to the market.
Development of a Robotic Minimally Invasive Pathway for Cochlear Implantation
Cochlear Hearing LossImplantCochlear Implantation is a system developed to restore hearing in people with profound sensorineural hearing loss, whose classical hearing aids are ineffective. Surgery is necessary to insert the internal part into the cochlea and requires milling the mastoid to access the round window. This approach is technically difficult, and is performed under a microscope by an experienced surgeon. The development of a surgical technique that is both safer and less invasive is currently possible thanks to robotics.
Optimizing Soft Speech Recognition in Children With Hearing Loss
Hearing LossSensorineural2 moreOverhearing is important for vocabulary learning and speech and language development in young children. However, contemporary hearing aids are generally unable provide adequate access to low-level auditory inputs from multiple talkers at a distance to capitalize on overhearing. A recent investigation by Jace Wolfe and colleagues showed that, even when aided, children with hearing loss had significantly poorer speech recognition at 40, 50 and 60 dBA compared to children with normal hearing. Furthermore, they showed that increasing hearing aid gain for very low-level inputs produced a statistically significant improvement in syllable-final plural recognition and a non-significant trend toward better monosyllabic word recognition at very low presentation levels. Additional research is needed to document low-level speech recognition ability of children with hearing loss as well as the potential benefit or detriment of increasing hearing aid gain for low-level inputs. A novel hearing aid technology known as Soft Speech Enhancer has been shown improve low-level speech perception in adults with hearing loss; however, the effect of Speech Enhancer on speech recognition in children is not yet known and will be evaluated.
A Study of Objective Fitting for Focused Multipolar Stimulation
Hearing LossBilateralThe purpose of this exploratory study is to trial various objective and behavioural fitting methods for potential use with Focused Multipolar Stimulation programming.
Arabic Version of a New Tool Called HEAL-COMMAND to Evaluate Hearing Loss and Communication and...
Hearing LossHearing loss is the fourth highest cause of disability globally. Current data suggest that approximately 5% of the world's population suffer from disabling hearing loss, Earlier studies have shown that persons with hearing loss experience a higher prevalence of associated adverse health effects than persons with normal hearing. Those conditions include social isolation, depression, diabetes, dementia, falling, cardiovascular disease, and reduced quality of life. A limitation to disability-based questionnaires related to hearing loss is the large number of instruments available and the lack of consensus on which questionnaires to use. To do so, applying the World Health Organization's International Classification of Functioning Disability and Health (ICF) framework was found to be an ideal design foundation. In the ICF, functioning refers to positive aspects of Body Functions, Activities, and Participation, while disability refers to impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions, in which both aspects can be influenced by a health condition(s) and or contextual (personal and environmental) factors. Previous studies showed that the operationalization of the ICF Core Sets for HL into a self-assessment tool can serve as the foundation for a comprehensive picture of health. To accommodate this need, a collaboration between group of researchers at Audiology Clinic, Auburn university, Alabama, USA have been conducted. This partnership resulted in creating an English and German version of questionnaire that comprehensively assesses and individuals hearing functioning profile according to ICF framework which is called HEAL-COMMAND Tool
