The Effects of an Exercise Programme for Older Patients With Heart Failure
Heart FailureOld Age; DebilityPatients with heart failure have decreased exercise tolerance, balance problems, and fall risks. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of an exercise program based on the Empowerment Model for participants with heart failure. This randomized, controlled study including pre-test/post-test and the measurements were performed between January-November 2014 at a university hospital in Izmir, Turkey. Intervention group (n = 11) and control group (n = 10) participated in the research. The intervention group received 45-60 minute individual training and 12 weeks of individual follow-up. The weekly motivational phone calls structured according to the empowerment model and home visits when necessary were repeated. Patients in the control group did not receive any intervention except for their routine treatment. Data were collected before the education of exercise and after 12 weeks; sociodemographic data questionnaire, pedometer, accelerometer, Berg Balance Scale, HF Empowerment Scale, estimated weekly exercise monitoring form and exercise booklet had been utilised. The SPSS statistical package program was used to analyze the data.

Assessment of ProEnkephalin to Detect Acute Kidney Injury (AKI)
Heart FailureVolume Overload2 moreResearchers are observing the values of proEnkephalin (PENK) via a blood draw in hospitalized patients that are volume overloaded requiring diuresis. If changes in PENK are found, physicians may predict values of change in kidney function during treatment.

Effect of Parenteral Glutamine on Myocardial Injury and Inflammation Biomarkers
Insufficiency;CardiacThe effect of parenteral glutamine on the biomarkers of myocardial injury and inflammation in patients undergoing cardiac surgery with and without cardiopulmonary bypass (DCP) will be analyzed. Randomized controlled clinical trial, from October 2018 to February 2022. 124 patients: 14 patients with DCP and 14 patients without DCP, both + glutamine (L-alanyl-L-glutamine dipeptide, at a dose of 0.4 g / kg) 6 hours before surgery and 14 patients with PCD and 14 patients without PCD + placebo (saline) 6 hours before surgery. Blood samples will be taken to measure the level of TROP-I, CPK-MB, HSP-70, TNFa, IL6, IL10 and PCR 1 hour before the administration of Glutamine / Placebo, 1 hour before surgery, then at 1 , 12 and 24 hours after surgery.

Mobile Health Monitoring Solution for Heart Failure Patients
Heart FailureHeart Failure (HF) affects 5.7 million Americans and is the only major cardiovascular disorder on the rise. The primary aim of this study is to formally study the combined effects of several different tele-health modalities, all currently approved and available for general use, to determine if such combinations will result in an increase in early intervention and a resultant decrease in acute cardiac decompensation requiring a hospitalization or Emergency Room (ER) visit. This study will attempt to characterize the frequency of health care interventions attributable to the use of these technologies, and any relationship between these interventions and the frequency of hospitalization or ER visits. Secondary objectives include characterization of healthcare utilization, healthcare costs, and patient experiences with regard to the use the provided technologies.

VITARIA Registry Study
Congestive Heart FailureThis registry will observe patients with symptomatic heart failure with implantable vagus nerve stimulation to provide insights into safety and efficacy during clinical routine.

Optimization of CRT Using an ECG Vest
Heart FailureDespite advancements in implant technology and various techniques of optimization, there is still around 30% non-responder rate to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). This study will assess the potential benefit of a body surface mapping technology to optimize CRT devices in the chronic sub-optimal responder setting.

Evaluation of Breathing, Sleep and the Effects of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure During Wakefulness...
Heart FailureAdult patients with heart failure (HF) have an increased work of breathing and are at increased risk for obstructive and/or central apnea during sleep. Noninvasive continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) has proved its efficacy in decreasing the work of breathing and improving sleep-disordered breathing in these patients. The aim of the study is to analyze the work of breathing and objective and subjective sleep quality in children with HF and to evaluate the ability of noninvasive CPAP to decrease the work of breathing and improve cardiac output during wakefulness.

Study of the Acute Effects of Triheptanoin in Heart Failure
Congestive Heart FailureNon-ischemic CardiomyopathyPatients with dilated cardiomyopathy who present for indwelling right heart catheterization will be enrolled and randomized to either control or triheptanoin oil for five days. Hemodynamics will be assess serially.

Trial of Autonomic neuroModulation for trEatment of Chronic Heart Failure
Heart FailureThe purpose of this clinical investigation is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) in advanced heart failure (HF) patients with Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) but not indicated for Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT).

Exercise Training in Treating Diastolic Heart Failure
Heart FailureDiastolic2 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine whether endurance exercise of either high or moderate intensity can reverse structural and functional changes of the heart in patients with diastolic heart failure, and to investigate which type of exercise is best in terms of aerobe capacity and quality of life. The investigators expect that high intensity endurance exercise is superior to moderate intensity endurance exercise.
