Home MonitoringCongenital Heart Disease1 moreThis repository will consist of clinically derived data and images of patients with congenital heart disease from the time of birth until they have reached one of the following outcomes: transition to outpatient care that has not resulted in readmission in 30 days after hospital discharge, death, weaned off supplementary feeding tubes, or clinic visits demonstrating clinical stability with their primary cardiologist, or full bi-ventricular cardiac surgery palliation with improvement in hemodynamic stability. This information will be collected for clinical evaluation and diagnostic purposes and will continue to be stored for potential future research application.

Exploring Potential Associations Between Rurality and Hopelessness in IHD Patients
Cardiac DiseaseMental Health IssueHopelessness is associated with 3.4 times increased risk of mortality or nonfatal myocardial infarction in patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD), independent of depression. Hopelessness has been identified in 27-52% of patients with IHD and can persist for up to 12 months after hospital discharge. Hopelessness, a negative outlook and sense of helplessness toward the future, can be a temporary response to an event (state) or a habitual outlook (trait). Hopelessness is associated with decreased physical functioning and lower physical activity (PA) levels in individuals with IHD. Low levels of PA independently contribute to increased death and adverse events in patients with IHD. Rates of PA in IHD patients continue to be unacceptably low in both hospital-based cardiac rehabilitation and home settings. Compounding this issue is often the symptom of hopelessness. The links among hopelessness, PA and mortality and morbidity for patients with IHD remain largely unknown, especially in rural and minority IHD patients. The purpose of this study is to delineate differences in hopelessness between urban and rural patients with IHD, as well as between racial minority, including Hispanic and Native American, and White patients with IHD. Potential mediation of urbanicity and race/ethnicity by social connectedness, a key variable in rural settings, will also be examined. A 6-month longitudinal study will be conducted at Sanford Heart Hospital and Avera Health in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Hopelessness will be measured using the State-Trait Hopelessness Scale. The results of this study have potential to transform nursing practice by providing a better understanding of hopelessness in IHD patients and informing future exercise rehabilitation studies and interventions in rural and minority populations.

Pharmacists Improving Refugees' Adherence and Knowledge of Their Chronic Medications
DiabetesHypertension3 moreThis study is a randomized, controlled, single-blinded clinical study which conducted over six months (May to October 2016) in different Jordanian cities, where most of Syrian refugees reside. The primary aim of this study was to assess refugees' adherence and knowledge of their chronic medications, and impact of the medication management review (MMR) service delivered by a clinical pharmacist on their adherence and knowledge of their chronic medications three months following delivering the service. An informed consent form was signed by all participants who accepted to participate (n=106). Participants were then randomized into intervention and control groups. The first group would have received the medication management review service during the study period, while the to the other group directly after the study was completed (after three months' time). Two validated questionnaire were used in the study for assessment; adherence to medications questionnaire and Knowledge about chronic medications questionnaire. These questionnaire were filled by tha patients at baseline and follow up home visits.

Dyslipidemia is one of the important risk factors. However, little is known about the genetic information of myocardial infarction and dyslipidemia, especially in Chinese population. This project aims to identify new loci related to myocardial infarction and blood lipid level in Chinese population, compare these gene variations with 94 gene variations related to myocardial infarction and blood lipid level in European population, and extract gene variations related to myocardial infarction and blood lipid level in Chinese population. In this case-control study, 3998 blood samples and 702 new blood samples were collected from the sample bank of Peking University Third Hospital and first hospital, respectively. The blood samples were collected from Asian heart disease hospital, Taiyuan cardiovascular disease hospital, Beijing Third Hospital and Shijingshan community follow-up population According to the results of carotid ultrasound or treadmill exercise test, the samples were divided into myocardial infarction group and control group, and the corresponding blood lipid levels were collected. The samples were genotyped by the metabochip gene chip of Illumina company. The data were processed by the calling algorithm of BeadStudio Gentrain 1.0 and the GenoSNP software. The related genes of myocardial infarction were analyzed by logistic regression, and the related genes of blood lipid level were analyzed by linear regression.

Survey Of Mobilisation and Breathing Exercises After Thoracic and Abdominal Surgery
Abdominal CancerHeart DiseasesBackground Thoracic or abdominal surgeries are followed by a shorter or longer period of immobilization and after major surgery there is a higher risk of developing cardiorespiratory complications. To prevent these complications, the patient is encouraged to change position and exercise in bed, get out of bed as early and as much as possible after the operation and to breathe with or without aids. There is no general definition of early mobilization and may start within a few hours to a few days after surgery. There is currently a lack of knowledge nationally and internationally about when the mobilization starts and what it contains. Many patients also receive breathing training in connection with the surgery. There is currently no consensus on which method is preferable for which groups of patients. There are similarities and differences in practice in the world regarding postoperative breathing training. There are studies that have mapped practice after primarily thoracic surgery but also abdominal surgery. However, there are no studies that have mapped when the prescribed breathing training starts after different types of operations. The purpose of the study is to map when mobilization and breathing training starts after abdominal and thoracic surgery and what is then performed Method The study will be carried out as a quality follow-up with mapping of practice. Patients ≥ 18 years of age who are undergoing a planned or acute open, keyhole or robot-assisted surgery, who are extubated and who breathe spontaneously will be included. Exclusion criteria are completed plastic, trauma, orthopedic or transplant surgery. The material will be recruited from Swedish university hospitals and county hospitals for 20 days of surgery (Monday through Thursday) for five consecutive weeks. Clinical benefit The study will mean that clinical practice is presented which, with regard to mobilization, is the first study ever that will present when this takes place and what is done and, with regard to breathing training, the first that shows when this training is initiated.
