Safety Study of Dengzhanxixin (a Chinese Medicine Injection) Used in Hospitals in China
Ischemic StrokeCoronary Heart DiseaseThis study was advocated by Institute of Basic Research in Clinical Medicine, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences in October 2011. It was funded by China major scientific and technological specialized project for 'significant new formulation of new drugs'. Dengzhanxixin is kind of Chinese Medicine injection used for treating Ischemic Stroke and coronary heart disease in many Chinese hospitals. The purpose of this study is to determine adverse drug events or adverse drug reaction in large sample size 30,000 patients.
Heart and Lung Function Monitoring System
Heart DiseasesLung DiseasesThe investigator goal is to test a new device to see if it can provide continuous and simultaneous monitoring of heart and lung function.
Circulating Markers for Ischemic Heart Disease
Myocardial InfarctionIschemia1 moreThe purpose of this research is to determine if two proteins in the blood are increased during acute myocardial infarction and whether their levels are higher in those who develop heart failure than those who do not. These two proteins are produced and potentially released when the heart muscle is damaged. They may then be released into the blood and be detected by standard method in the research laboratory. At this time, detection of an increase in these proteins in the blood is not known to be associated with any disease or myocardial infarction.
Prevalence of Delirium in Patients Undergoing Cardiac Surgery
Heart DiseaseThe objective of this study is to determine prevalence of postoperative delirium and confusion in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. This proposal is a pilot study designed to evaluate effect of cardiac surgery on prevalence of delirium and confusion. The primary aim is to evaluate prevalence of delirium and confusion in patients undergoing cardiac surgery and to determine risk factors for this condition. A secondary aim is to evaluate organic brain injury by early postoperative diffusion weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI) in patients who develop delirium and confusion. The hypothesis to be tested is that patients with postoperative delirium and confusion have high incidence of organic brain injury as detected by DW-MRI.
Amotosalen and Platelet Transfusion in Pediatric Heart Surgery
Congenital Heart Disease in ChildrenHigh level of security during blood transfusion has been achieved by donor selection and pathogen detection using serology or direct identification. Nevertheless, blood banking becomes hazardous during epidemic outbreaks or facing new pathogens. Amotosalen, a psoralen, targets nucleic acids and destroys them after ultraviolet exposure, resulting in inactivation of pathogens. Treatment inoccuity and efficacy have been demonstrated but preservation of platelet functions after treatment is still debated. Previous studies focused on hematological patients. There is no evidence for an increased requirement of transfused platelets to achieve platelet count target. Studies in heart surgery are lacking. The investigators perform a multicenter, retrospective, "before/after", controlled study in minor patients requiring heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. One center (Strasbourg) uses Amotosalen-treated platelet concentrates since 2006 (control arm). This treatment becomes available in Bordeaux in October 2017 (intervention arm). There is two periods of inclusion: one "before" (January 2016 to June 2017) and one "after" (January 2018 to June 2019).
Does Frailty Help Predict Postoperative Outcomes in Cardiac Surgery?
Coronary Heart DiseaseHeart Valve DiseasesThis study will assess the benefit in using a frailty score to quantify accurate risk pre-operatively in patients undergoing major cardiac surgery in order to predict morbidity and disability-free survival post-operatively.
Cardiorenal Syndrome in End-Stage Kidney Disease
End-stage Renal DiseaseCardiorenal Syndrome1 moreCardiorenal Syndrome (CRS) is prevalent among end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients. Recently, its prevalence is rising. There are several different clinical presentations of this syndrome. It has a high rate of morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this study is to find the connection between the heart pathology and its effect on ESRD patients. This will aid in choosing the appropriate medical therapy for these patients, and hopefully, aid in increasing their quality of life, and decrease their morbidity and mortality.

Safety Study of Shenmai(a Chinese Medicine Injection) Used in Hospitals in China
ShockCoronary Heart DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to make a cohort event monitoring to see whether and how Shenmai injection in hospital results in adverse events or adverse drug reactions.
