C-Pulse Implantable Counterpulsation Pump (ICP) - A Heart Assist Device
Heart FailureThe C-Pulse Study is evaluating the safety and performance of a new product for the treatment of heart failure. The product is designed to help reduce the symptoms of heart failure and help patients function better with daily activities. The study evaluates multiple measures of heart function and whether the patient's quality of life has been improved since the device implant. The patient will have several visits after the device implant to assess how well they are doing and to monitor any safety concerns.
European Trial of Dronedarone in Moderate to Severe Congestive Heart Failure
Congestive Heart FailureThe purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy, tolerability and safety of dronedarone versus placebo in patients with symptomatic congestive heart failure (CHF) and left ventricular dysfunction (LVD) when added to evidence based treatments for CHF.
EFfect of Ferric Carboxymaltose on exercIse CApacity and Cardiac Function in Patients With Iron...
Chronic Heart FailureIron Deficiency2 moreThis study is designed to assess, relative to placebo, the effects on the evolution of exercise capacity and symptomatic status of the addition of iron treatment with FCM (ferric carboxymaltose) to the basic regimen of ambulatory patients with stable symptomatic chronic CHF (congestive heart failure) and iron deficiency.
PAF-HEFT (Permanent Atrial Fibrillation in Heart Failure Trial)
Atrial FibrillationHeart FailureExamination of CRT efficacy in patients with progressive heart failure and atrial fibrillation at the same time
Efficacy and Safety of Levosimendan in Severe Acute Heart Failure in Critical Children
Acute Heart FailureTo evaluate the efficacy and safety of levosimendan versus conventional intensified inotropic treatment, in critical children with severe acute heart failure which persists despite of having received conventional inotropic treatment.
Clinical effecT of Heart Failure Management Via Home Monitoring With a Focus on Atrial Fibrillation...
Heart Failure (HF)Atrial FibrillationEffecT is a prospective, randomized multicenter study to assess whether management of atrial fibrillation (AF) as well as the early optimization of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) via Home Monitoring decreases mortality and morbidity compared to conventional treatment in subjects with a standard indication for CRT with Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) backup and AF.
Safety and Efficacy Study of Add On Aliskiren in Patients With Heart Failure and Renal Impairment...
Heart FailureKidney FailureThe main purpose of this study is to examine the effect of add-on therapy with the direct renin inhibitor Aliskiren in comparison to placebo on renal blood flow in patients with heart failure and reduced renal function. Primary outcome measure: change in renal blood flow at 6 months Secondary outcome measures: changes in renal function, N-terminal pro Brain natriuretic peptide, left ventricular function, blood pressure and neurohormones
A Pilot Study Comparing the Programmed Delay Between the Atrial and Ventricle Interval
Heart FailureThe idea of this study is to compare different ways of setting up a pacemaker, using blood tests to give us information about how well it's working. We hope to learn if we can use this approach to figure out the best pacemaker setup ("programming") for each individual patient. The setting we propose to adjust is the timing between the impulse sent between top and bottom chambers.
Assessing the Safety/Efficacy of Transdermal Testosterone in Female Patients With Symptomatic Heart...
Heart FailureHeart failure (HF) is a complex condition resulting from structural or functional heart diseases that impair the ability of the heart to fill with or pump out blood. The main manifestations of HF are shortness of breath and tiredness which may limit the ability to exercise or perform simple daily physical activities such as walking. Heart disease leading to HF is associated with reduced muscle mass and reduced strength and low blood levels of testosterone; a hormone normally produced by the human (male and female) body. Recent studies have shown improvements of symptoms and ability to exercise in patients with heart failure receiving testosterone. This is a placebo controlled study to determine the efficacy and safety of low dose testosterone (300 and 450 microgram/day) delivered by a transdermal system (patch) in women with significant HF.
Cardiac Function After CPAP Therapy in Patients With Chronic Heart Failure and Sleep Apnea. A Multicenter...
Sleep ApneaHeart Failure1 moreThe role of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in cardiac function in patients with CSA and OSA has been studied with varying results. Nevertheless, it is not clear whether CPAP treatment for respiratory sleep disorders in CHF could slow down deterioration or improve the cardiovascular function. In an attempt to yield further insight into this subject, we undertook a multicentre study to analyze the role of CPAP therapy (optimal vs sham) in the LVEF and in other cardiac measurements in patients with CHF.Aim. We evaluated in a randomized multicentre placebo (sham-CPAP) controlled study the effect of CPAP treatment on the left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) among other cardiological related variables.
