Atrial Septal DefectPatients received a MitraClip procedure because of a leakiness of their mitral valves. During this procedure the atrioventricular valves were stuck together permanently via a clip which leads to a reduction of leakiness. As a result of this procedure a small hole remains at the cardiac septum which is called an atrial septal defect (ASD). In most cases the hole will close after a few weeks or months, but in many other cases not. Until now there is no exact data about the effect of this hole on the filling pressure in the heart or on the blood flow behaviour. So the aim of this study is a precise analysis of the blood flow mechanics during and after the MitraClip procedure to identify criteria to get more informations for a better strategy and regulation of the MitraClip procedure.

Heart Defects,CongenitalHeart Septal Defects1 moreThis project will evaluate fluid balance and oedema formation in children with the same congenital heart disease (Atrial Septal Defect) who will either go through heart surgery with the use of Cardio Pulmonary Bypass and hypothermia or through interventional catheterization. The investigators will measure interstitial colloid osmotic pressure, distribution of proteins and cytokines. The study hypothesis is that "Oedema developed during heart surgery is caused by reduced colloid osmotic pressure gradient through the capillary membrane".

Outcomes of Transcatheter ASD Closure Guided by 3D-TEE
ASD2(Secundum Atrial Septal Defect)Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) is a common cardiac diagnosis among adults.Three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (3D-TEE) improve the visualization of ASD, its rims and surrounding structures and can be used for guidance during percutaneous transcatheter closure. Proper device size selection is important for success of ASD device closure. 3D-TEE can assess the ASD morphology, maximal diameter, area and determine the device size without balloon sizing during percutaneous closure.There are some adverse outcomes reported in previous studies following transcatheter secundum ASD closure as: residual shunt, new onset atrial fibrillation(AF) and mitral regurgitation(MR)deterioration . These adverse outcomes are responsible for morbidity and mortality following transcatheter ASD closure, so it is essential to study risk factors associated with these adverse outcomes in order to minimize their incidence.The investigators will study the role of 3D-TEE in proper device size selection, also the percentage and predictors of adverse outcomes after device closure guided by 3D-TEE.
