The Effects of Yogurt on Gut Microbiome and Metabolism in H. Pylori.

Helicobacter pylori is a common pathogen causing upper gastrointestinal diseases including gastric ulcer and gastric cancer. Recent epidemiological findings have also shown that it is also related to colon cancer, metabolic syndrome, gut dysbiosis, glycemic control and insulin resistance. The aim of this study is to investigate whether the gut microbiota and insulin resistance of patients with H. pylori infection are abnormal. In addition, whether drinking fermented milk product with probiotic reduces Helicobacter pylori, improves gut microbiota, and increases butyrate-producing bacteria and insulin resistance.

patients who had failed previous H. pylori eradication on standard triple therapy were randomized into two regimens: 1, esomeprazole (20 mg b.i.d), tripotassium dicitrate bismuthate (300 mg q.i.d), metronidazole (500 mg t.i.d), and tetracycline (500 mg q.i.d) (EBMT) or 2, moxifloxacin (400 mg q.d.), esomeprazole (20 mg b.i.d), and amoxicillin (1000 mg b.i.d.) (MEA). At four weeks after completion of eradication therapy, H. pylori tests were performed with 13C urea breath test (UBT) or invasive tests (Giemsa histology, CLO test, and culture). In patients who maintained continuous H. pylori negativity for the first year after eradication therapy, H. pylori status was assessed every year. For the evaluation of risk factors of reinfection, gender, age, clinical diagnosis, histological atrophic gastritis or intestinal metaplasia were analyzed.

Challenges in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) include increasing antimicrobial resistance and patient's low tolerance to some regimens. Lactobacillus johnsonii (L. johnsonii) and Immunoglobulin Y (IgY) have been shown to decrease the amount and activity of H. pylori in human stomach and can increase patient's tolerance. We conduct a single-center double-masked randomized controlled trial to evaluate the effectiveness of GastimunHp Plus (a product combining L. johnsonii and IgY) in improving the clearance of H. pylori after six to eight weeks of treatment and side effects of H. pylori treatment. H. pylori is tested by C13- or C14-urea breath test.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of Pylera when given twice a day. Pylera approved treatment schedule is 3 pills taken 4 times daily, in addition to omeprazole given twice daily. In this trial, subjects with confirmed Helicobacter Pylori infection will receive Pylera treatment and omeprazole twice daily.

The combination of two Lactubacillus reuteri strains, ATC 55730 and ATCC PTA 6457 are marketed as GASTRUS® and has been proposed as better option in increasing Helicobacter pylori eradication rate compared to the single strain ATC 55730, due to additional anti-inflammatory properties of the second strain. Objectives of the study are to determine whether adding probiotic combination (GASTRUS®) to an anti- Helicobacter pylori regimen decreases adverse events and increases the eradication rate of Helicobacter pylori in the pediatric population infected with Helicobacter pylori bacteria.

Helicobacter pylori-infection (H. pylori) affects about fifty percent of the general population and is associated with peptic ulcer disease, non-cardia gastric adenocarcinoma and gastric lymphoma. Currently, diagnostic methods include breath tests, serology, stool antigen tests, histology or the Helicobacter urease test (HUT). The aim of our study is to access the clinical reliability of a new, electrochemical device for rapid H. pylori detection.
