A Study to Determine Final Geriatric Assessment in Haematology (GAH) Score as a Tool for Predicting...

Myelodysplastic SyndromesLeukemia Myeloid Acute5 more

This is a post-authorization, retrospective multicentre observational nationwide study (PAS-OD). It will be conducted by reviewing medical records and database of patients who participated in the validation of the psychometric properties of the GAH study (CEL-GAH-2011-01). In all cases, only data prior to the start date of the study will be collected to ensure its retrospective nature, thereby reflecting routine clinical practice and non-interference in the physician's clinical practice

Impact of Child Positioning on Pain During a Lumbar Puncture

Hematological Malignancies

This protocol is a pilot study on standard care. The main goal is to assess the impact of positioning on lumbar puncture process especially on pain sensitivity in children. It's a prospective, monocentric, randomized, open-label, cross-over study. Inclusion period is one year, and number of inclusions forecasted is about 30. Each patient will have one LP in a seated position and one in a lying position.

Telephone OncoGériatric Followed in the Management of Elderly Patients Treated for Cancer or Haematological...

CancerHematologic Malignancy

There are no recommendations and few studies on the monitoring of fragile patients in the oncological treatment, both on the organizational arrangements on its interest in the prevention of functional deterioration of the patient and adaptation of the potential cancer treatment. The oncogériatrique evaluation being time-consuming, requiring the movement of these more or less frail elderly patients, it seems difficult to envisage repeated and systematic standardized geriatric assessments during cancer treatment. Geriatric fragility can be detected by telephone. Craven et al. has already assessed the telephone follow-up by a nurse in patients treated for cancer, but with the aim to detect toxicities of cancer treatment, patients are not very old (mean age 64.8 years). External evaluation by the nurse coordinator of UCOG (Coordination Unit in geriatric oncology) not knowing the patients included avoids bias of subjectivity in the interrogation. However the telephone monitoring, with the aim to evaluate the evolution of geriatric frailty, has not been specifically studied in the elderly population treated for cancer, while taking oncology load. The investigators wish to study the feasibility and validity of telephone follow-up which could eventually be used routinely to identify patients requiring further medical consultation oncogériatrique.

Study of Red Blood Cell Transfusion Triggers in Patients Undergoing Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation...

Hematologic Malignancies

Transfusion of red blood cells (RBCs) is important for the care of patients undergoing stem cell transplantation. Stem cell transplants are used to treat blood cancers and bone marrow disorders. This involves the use of high doses of chemotherapy and/or radiation to kill cancer cells; but this damages the marrow and blood system. Blood stem cells are transplanted by infusing into the recipient and blood counts recover over 2-3 weeks. Before bone marrow recovery, RBCs are needed to support the patient. Higher hemoglobin in these high risk patients may have benefits such as better energy and organ function. However, research in other areas of medicine suggests that a higher red cell count may be dangerous. Taken together, it is unclear whether having a lower or higher red cell count is better for patients having a blood stem cell transplant. The investigators plan to study this by randomly assigning patients having a transplant to be transfused with RBCs either at a higher or lower hemoglobin level. In this way, the investigators will be able to accurately find out if there are any benefits or harms in having a lower or higher red cell count during the recovery period after blood stem cell transplantation.

ADVANCE: An Observational Study To Determine Bortezomib Safety and Effectiveness at First Relapse...

Multiple MyelomaHematological Neoplasms

The primary aim of this observational study is to collect safety and effectiveness data for bortezomib used at first relapse in a group of multiple myeloma patients who received specific and well defined first line treatments within previous clinical studies.

The Relationship of Defeverscence and Itraconazole Plasma Level Study in Immunocompromised Participants...

Hematologic NeoplasmsNeutropenia1 more

The purpose of this observational study is to investigate whether a sufficient concentration of itraconazole can influence disappearance of a fever (defeverscence) when intravenous (into the vein) itraconazole is administered for resolving unknown neutropenic fever of participants who are given itraconazole oral solution as a prophylaxis under general treatment conditions.

Granulocyte Transfusions in Hematological Patients With Febrile Neutropenia

NeutropeniaFever5 more

The investigators retrospectively evaluated the efficacy of granulocyte transfusions as adjunctive treatment for severe infections in neutropenic fever unresponsive to antimicrobial therapy in hematological patients.

Analysis of T Cell and Natural Killer (NK) Cell in Relation to Viral Infections in Pediatric Stem...

Hematologic Malignancies

Viral infections and reactivation during pediatric allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) are a common occurrence and significantly contribute to post-transplant morbidity and mortality. The risk is high due to prolonged periods of immune deficiency while awaiting immune reconstitution post-transplant. Current strategies to reduce complications from viral infections include prophylactic treatment, close monitoring for viral infections and prompt treatment at the first sign of symptoms or increasing viral load. However, the most definitive treatment for viral infections remains the host's cellular defenses. Improved understanding of the immune systems response to viral infections may lead to better treatment strategies. This study is being done to explore the relationships between T-cells and NK cells (infection fighting cells) and viral infections or reactivations in young allogeneic stem cell transplant patients. The investigators will be looking at how these cells react and function in young patients receiving allogeneic stem cell transplantation, as well as in healthy stem cell donors.

Evaluation of Loratadine for G-CSF Induced Bone Pain in Patients With Hematologic Malignancies

LeukemiaLymphoma

The purpose of this project is to assess the efficacy of loratadine in decreasing the incidence and severity of bone pain following G-CSF administration in patients with hematologic malignancies, patients undergoing mobilization of hematopoietic progenitor cells, and patients who have undergone an autologous hematopoietic cell transplant. This is a different patient population than those being assessed in current clinical trials.

PENELOPE Observational Study: Prophylaxis and Treatment of Arterial and Venous Thromboembolism

Hematologic NeoplasmAcute Leukemia3 more

The primary objective of the study is to assess efficacy and safety of different prophylactic or therapeutic antithrombotic approaches in patients with hematologic neoplasms and platelet count <50 x109/L, including unfractionated or low molecular weight heparin, fondaparinux, anti-vitamin K agents, antiplatelet agents, novel oral anticoagulants, fibrinolytic agents, with or without a policy of platelet transfusion. Cases with arterial or venous thromboembolism managed with observation or use of vena cava filters in patients with venous thromboembolism will be included too.
