High Intensity Laser Therapy in the Treatment of Hemiplegic Shoulder Pain

Hemiplegia

High intensity laser therapy (HILT) has been considered as a treatment option for shoulder pain. To our knowledge, the effectiveness of HILT in patients with hemiplegic shoulder pain (HSP) with partial thickness rotator cuff tear (PTRCT) is unknown. In this study, we intended to investigate the effectiveness of HILT on pain, disability, function and quality of life in patients with HSP accompanied by PTRCT.

Treatments for Recovery of Hand Function in Acute Stroke Survivors

StrokeAcute3 more

Impaired hand function is one of the most frequently persisting consequences of stroke. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether two different types of treatment improve recovery of hand function after stroke.

Comparison of the Effects of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy and Dry Needing

Hemiplegia

Effective treatment of spasticity after stroke is a very important and serious problem. Some of the therapeutic approach include physiotherapy and medication. In the recent years external corporeal shockwave therapy and dry needling are commonly used for management of spasticity and pain after stroke. the purpose of this study is the comparative study between effectiveness of external corporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) and dry needling (DN) on spasticity, pain, and upper limb function and sensation in individuals with hemiplegia. Methods: In this study, individuals with hemiplegia were randomized 1:1 to parallel ESWT-Group (n = 10) or DN group (CG) (n = 10). Upper Extremity Functions, Sensation, Spasticity and Pain were evaluated. All measurement indicators were be evaluate before treatment and immediately after one session treatment. Mixedmodel repeated measured ANOVAs were then employed to determine if a group*time interaction existed on the effects of the treatment on each outcome variable for each group as the between-subjects variable and time as the within-subjects variables.

Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation for Attention Deficit

Infantile Hemiplegia

Infantile hemiplegia due to brain injury is associated with poor attention. Left-sided infantile hemiplegia affects the learning and acquisition of new skills. This study is aiming to improve the Selective visual attention (SVA) through transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in children with Left-sided infantile hemiplegia .

Comparison Suprascapular Nerve Block and Subacromial Injection in Hemiplegic Shoulder Pain

HemiplegiaPain

Hemiplegic shoulder pain is the most common poststroke painful condition. Hemiplegic shoulder pain reduces range of motion (ROM) and hand function, resulting in limited daily life activity and decreased quality of life. In the literature, the effectiveness of suprascapular nerve block and subacromial injection in hemiplegia patients with shoulder pain has been previously evaluated, but these injection treatments have not been compared. Therefore, the aim of this study is to compare the effectiveness of suprascapular nerve block and subacromial injection on pain, shoulder (ROM), function and quality of life in hemiplegia patients with shoulder pain.

The Effects of Video Games in Stroke

StrokeHemiplegia

Aims: To establish whether the effectiveness of conventional treatment is increased when it is complemented with video-based therapy, whether specific rehabilitation or commercial after subacute stroke. Design: Randomized clinical trial with pre / post-test and follow-up evaluation, assessor blinded study. Methodology: Three different groups: conventional treatment, conventional treatment and commercial videogame, or conventional treatment and specific rehabilitation videogame. The three groups completed 12 sessions.

Effects of Theta Burst Stimulation on Modulation of Mirror Illusion-induced Rhythm Suppression in...

StrokeHemiplegia

The study aims to test the hypothesis that rTMS in the form of theta burst stimulation (TBS) over the ipsilateral and contralateral motor cortices can modulate mirror illusion-induced rhythm suppression while observing unilateral arm movement in stroke individuals. The investigators further hypothesize that this intervention will lead to the revision of interhemispheric asymmetry. Finally, this study will also explore the longitudinal relationship between rhythm suppression and motor recovery as indicated by motor excitability in the form of MEP. The results of this study will provide significant new information regarding neurophysiological motor relearning mechanisms which could inform the development and evaluation of innovative treatments for individuals with stroke

The Influence of Seat Height on Hemiplegic-pattern Propulsion of Manual Wheelchairs

WheelchairsHemiplegia

This study evaluates the effect of seat height on hemiplegic-pattern wheelchair propulsion. Each subject will act as their own control and measures will be obtained in a one sixty minute session. Five seat heights relative to the subject's leg length will be measured in a random order to see the effect on forward and backwards wheelchair propulsion.

Effectiveness of the Functional Hand Splint and Specific Tasks in the Domiciliary Environment Applied...

Hemiplegia and HemiparesisCerebral Palsy Infantile

The main objective: To determine the effectiveness of a treatment that combines the application of a functional upper limb orthosis together with a home-based program of specific tasks in children with unilateral cerebral palsy versus a home-based program of specific tasks in improving structure and function, activity and participation. Hypothesis: The application of a functional upper limb orthosis together with a home-based program of specific tasks in children with unilateral cerebral palsy results in a greater improvement in structure and function, activity and participation compared to the implementation of a home-based specific task program.
