HepciFer Study: Hepcidin Overexpression After Hepatectomy : Does Iron Supplementation Make Sense...

AnemiaPostoperative Blood Loss

Hepcifer Trial is designed to assess the value of iv iron administration immediately after liver surgery and consequences of inflammation on iron balance. Fifty patients will be randomized in two treatment groups. Patients will be assigned to receive either iv iron or placebo immediately after liver resection surgery. Biological inflammation parameters, hemoglobin, serum iron and hepcidin levels will be assessed prior to surgery and at day 1, 3, 7, 15 and 30 after surgery.

Uterine Fundus Pressure in Reduction of Cesarean Bleeding

Postoperative Bleeding

Uterine compression methods reduce the amount of postpartum bleeding. In our study, we investigated the effect of fundal pressure, which will be created by a sandbag placed on the abdomen, on reducing post-cesarean bleeding. Material and Methods: A total of 482 patients who delivered by cesarean section (CS) in the Obstetrics Clinic of Fırat University Faculty of Medicine between January 2021 and December 2021 were included in this prospective, randomized, single-center study.

Prevalence of Trephined Syndrome After Decompressive Craniectomy

Trephined SyndromeSinking Skin Flap Syndrome5 more

Decompressive craniectomy is frequently used to treat increased intracranial pressure or an intracranial mass effect. Trephined Syndrome describes a neurological deterioration, which is attributed to a large craniectomy. The symptomatology is varied but includes headache, aggravation of a hemisyndrome or cognitive disorders, often has an orthostatic component and improves or disappears with cranioplasty. The incidence of Trephined Syndrome has been reported between 7% and 26%. However, it might be underestimated if the course of cognitive functions before and after cranioplasty were insufficiently documented.

Prospective Study Investigating Aspirin and Intraoperative Blood Loss and Complications Following...

HerniaInguinal2 more

The purpose of this study is to determine whether aspirin taken in the perioperative period will increase the blood loss associated with open inguinal hernia repairs. A secondary purpose of this study is to determine if the aspirin administered in the perioperative period increases the risk of complications associated with open inguinal hernia repairs.

Topical Application of Tranexamic Acid Reduces Postoperative Blood Loss in Total Hip Arthroplasty...

Hip ReplacementPostoperative Hemorrhage

Tranexamic acid has been shown to reduce postoperative blood losses and transfusion requirements in a number of types of surgery. Most trials in orthopedic surgery have been conducted intravenously in arthroplasty, hip fracture and spine surgeries. This study would aim to see the effect of topical use of tranexamic acid in reduction of blood loss and transfusions for total hip arthroplasty

Lateral Occlusion of Uterine Artery in Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

Postoperative Hemorrhage

Laparoscopic hysterectomy is associated with complications in form of infections and subsequently dehiscence of the vault. This is a serious complication. The infection may be related to the frequently observed postoperative hematoma following traditional laparoscopic hysterectomy where the uterine artery is coagulated and divided at the cervical entry into the uterus. By coagulation of the uterine artery laterally close to the internal iliac artery this problem may be eliminated due to the much less bleeding observed during this procedure.

Desmopressin in Cardiac Surgery

HemorrhageBlood Loss2 more

Patients undergoing cardiac surgery could develop excessive perioperative bleeding requiring transfusions of blood products. Desmopressin (DDAVP), already used for patients with von Willebrand syndrome, could reduce bleeding and transfusion requirements in these patients when administered ev (0.3 mg/kg) in 20-30 minutes postoperatively.

Anticoagulant/Antiaggregant Use and Postoperative Bleeding Risk in Patients With Bladder Tumor and...

HematuriaRetention3 more

Patients who were using anticoagulant or antiaggregant medications for any reason and underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TUR-BT) or transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) or open prostatectomy (OP) due to BPH will be compared with those who were not using anticoagulant or antiplatelet medication. The rates of postoperative clot retention, presence of hematuria, reoperation due to hematuria, blood transfusion and re-admissions due to hematuria in the first postoperative month will be compared.
