Neuroinflammatory Response in Patients With ICH and IVH Treated With rtPA

Hypertensive Intracerebral HemorrhageIntraventricular Hemorrhage1 more

This study compares the neuroinflammatory response in patients with hypertensive ICH associated with IVH treated with intraventriculary applied rtPA, and the control group. The inflammatory mediator concentration is analyzed in local cerebrospinal liquor.

Three-dimensional Power Doppler in the Diagnosis of Endometrial Lesions in Patients With Postmenopausal...

Postmenopausal Bleeding

100 women suffering post-menopausal bleeding will be included in the study. All the participants will undergo 3D Transvaginal Ultrasound to assess the endometrium and myometrium (for the presence of any focal lesions e.g. polypi) followed by 3D Power Doppler ultrasound assessment of the vascular indices: vascularization index (VI), flow index (FI) and vascularization-flow index (VFI) and endometrial volumes. The results of the ultrasound and Doppler indices will be correlated to the histopathological examination of specimens collected following fractional curettage or hysterectomy.

Accuracy of the Red Reflex Test in the Pediatric Population

Abnormal Vitreous Humor MorphologyAbnormal Choroid Morphology3 more

This study is designed to investigate the sensitivity and specificity of the Red Reflex Test (RRT), with and without dilation, for early detection of ocular abnormalities in children and newborns. The RRT functions by shining a light from an ophthalmoscope into a participant's eye and noting the presence or absence of a red glow. Despite its use in pediatric clinics for years, this test at times fails to detect significant ocular diseases, especially located in the back of the eye, threatening visual development in this population. Therefore, the investigators aim to quantify the utility of this test as a tool for screening by comparing these findings on RRT with those of retinal photography. The investigators hypothesize that the sensitivity and specificity of the RRT will be sufficient for detecting anterior segment pathology but will be insufficient for detecting posterior segment pathology with or without dilation.

Predictive Value of Mean Flow Velocity by TCD in Early Cerebral Vasospasm in Aneurysmal Subarachnoid...

Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

Aim of this work is to evaluate the transcranial doppler in prediction of cerebral vasospasm in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage and also to evaluate their advantages over clinical scales in predicting CV.

Long-term Effects of Time to Treatment in Subarachnoid Haemorrhage

Spontaneous Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

For patients with spontaneous subarachnoid haemorrhage, it remains to be investigated if there is an association between the time from patients call the Emergence Medical Coordination Center to neurosurgical admission and long-term outcome. This is a retrospective cohort study with four-year followup. The primary aim is to determine if the time to neurosurgical admission is associated to labour marked affiliation and mortality after four years.

Time of Postpartum Hemoglobin Assessment and Blood Loss During Delivery

HemorrhagePostpartum

This is a prospective cohort study of patients delivering at Columbia University Medical Center/ Allen Hospital. For the primary research question, the investigators will compare the change in maternal hemoglobin from postpartum day 1 to day 2 and also determine correlation with estimation of blood loss (EBL) and quantitative blood loss (QBL).

Clinical-biological Score for Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding

Gastro Intestinal Bleeding

Gastrointestinal bleeding is a frequent reason for consultation in the Emergency Department. It is a real emergency associated with fairly significant morbidity and mortality. The incidence of upper gastrointestinal bleeding (HDH) has been reported to be 67-103 per 100,000 adults per year in the UK with mortality rates of 2%-8%. While Lower Gastrointestinal Bleeding (LBHB) has a lower incidence estimated at 33 per 100,000 adults per year. Additionally, compared to HDB, HDB appears to have less need for hemostatic intervention and lower mortality.

AProtinin Versus Tranexamic Acid in Cardiac Surgery Patients With High-risk for Excessive Bleeding...

Cardiac SurgeryCardiopulmonary Bypass1 more

In this before-after multicenter study the authors tested the hypothesis that the prophylactic use of aprotinin compared to tranexamic acid could reduce the proportion of patients presenting severe perioperative bleeding.

Evaluation of Menstrual Irregularities and Abnormal Uterine Bleeding After Covid-19 Vaccine

COVID-19Vaccine2 more

Covid-19 vaccines offered a good opportunity to counteract the spread of Sars-Cov-2 infection among the general population, reducing significantly both morbidity and mortality. Nevertheless, after the first and second doses of vaccination (regardless of the type of vaccine used) several women required gynaecological visits claiming menstrual Irregularities or abnormal uterine bleeding. Considering this anecdotal evidence, a questionnaire was designed to investigate systematically whether menstrual Irregularities or abnormal uterine bleeding occurred in a significant percentage of women undergoing first and second doses of covid-19 vaccination.

Resting Energy Needs in Brain Dead Patients (reSting EneRgy nEeds iN brAin DEad Patients)

Brain DeathBrain Injuries2 more

The study will examine the resting energy need (REE) in patients suffering from brain damage. For the measurement of REE will be used a metabolic computer (which with continuous recording of breath-to-breath volume (Vt), respiratory rate (RR) of ventilation per minute volume (MV) ), of inhaled and exhaled gases (O2 and CO2) has the ability to calculate the values of VO2, VCO2 and with the help of equations the values of REE and RQ.
