Therapeutic Conflicts and Multimorbidity
Gastrointestinal HemorrhageDiabetes Complications1 moreClinical practice guidelines do not take into account multimorbidity and various potential therapeutic conflicts. Identifying and quantifying therapeutic conflicts is crucial in multimorbid patients having more than two acute or chronic diseases. Guidance should be available for frequent encountered situations, e.g. gastrointestinal bleeding or exacerbation of diabetes mellitus.
Eye Tracking and Simulated Postpartum Hemorrhage
Simulation of Physical IllnessEye tracking is the process of measuring an individual's eye movements in order to reflect their attentional behavior by using a device called an eye- tracker. This study uses eye-tracking methodology to observe the gaze patterns of participants to a high fidelity simulation scenario of postpartum hemorrhage acting in the role of leader to evaluate the relationship between eye-tracking patterns and leadership and team behavioral and technical skills.
Predictors of Rupture Risk of Intracranial Aneurysms
Subarachnoid HemorrhageAneurysmal1 morePatients admitted to Haukeland University Hospital with either UIA or aSAH underwent a measurement of bioelectrical impedance and body mass composition using InBody 10. Lipids and lipoproteins were collected from plasma. 60 patients in total were included in the study.
Registry for Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding
Peptic Ulcer HemorrhagePeptic Ulcer1 moreThis project aims to evaluate the data on all patients undergoing endoscopic therapy for upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
Bleeding in Critically Ill Children With Underlying Oncologic Diagnoses
CancerBleeding"Bleeding in Critically Ill Children with Underlying Oncologic Diagnoses ," will be a prospective observational cohort study looking at the epidemiology of bleeding in the pediatric ICU population at MSK.
Cervical Traction vs. Active Management of 3rd Stage of Labor
Post Partum Hemorrhage306 patients will be divided randomly in to 2 GROUPS: control group: 153 patients will receive Oxytocin 10 IU I.V shot administered at the time of delivery of the anterior shoulder of the baby for both groups in prevention of postpartum haemorrhage, followed by active management of the third stage of labor by administration of oxytocin 5 IU units IM and waiting for signs of placental separation then controlled cord traction (CCT) to the umbilical cord while applying simultaneous counter-pressure to the uterus, through the abdomen(Brandt Andrews maneuver) study group:156 patients received Oxytocin 10 IU I.V shot at the time of delivery of the of the anterior shoulder of the baby according to the WHO recommendation .Then oxytocin is stopped and cervical traction (Amr maneuver )is applied. In the maneuver, sustained traction downward and posteriorly was applied to anterior and posterior lips of the cervix using ovum forceps for approximately 90 seconds. The traction should be adequate to allow the cervix to reach the vaginal introitus. Meanwhile (CCT ) is avoided and watchful waiting for signs of placental separartion till 90 seconds end. Massage is not employed but the fundus is frequently palpaple to insure it doesnot become atonic and filled with blood from placenta separation. In cases whom placental separation did not occur within the 90 seconds, we removed the ovum forceps and waited for 30 min for the placental separation .
Water Drinking Test Study and Disc Hemorrhages in Normal Tension Glaucoma
Normal Tension GlaucomaDisc hemorrhages are a known risk factor for progression of glaucoma. A positive water drinking test is also associated with progression of primary open glaucoma. The purpose of this study is to determine if patients with normal tension glaucoma and disc hemorrhages have a positive water drinking test. Patients with normal tension glaucoma and a disc hemorrhage will be recruited to undergo a water drinking test prior to any change in their treatment.
Moderate Bleeding in Cardiac Surgery Post Operative
Heart SurgeryDetermine a bleeding threshold by measuring the blood volume in ml / kg / h collected in the drainage system to define moderate bleeding postoperative cardiac surgery and define the population.
Prospective Study of Long-term Outcome After Non-aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
Subarachnoid HemorrhageSpontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is usually caused by rupture of an intracranial aneurysm, but in up to 15% of patients with spontaneous SAH, no discernible bleeding source can be identified despite of repetitive radiological imaging. Patients, at least 18 months after ictus of a non-aneurysmal SAH, received a regular mail including a letter explaining the study purpose and the postal questionnaire consisting a short-form health survey with 36 simple questions. If we didn't receive answers after three months we made telephone interviews with the patients' family members or their general practitioner.
Non-inferiority Trial of Oral Tranexamic Acid vs. Intravenous Tranexamic Acid in Joint Replacement...
OsteoarthritisBlood Loss3 moreThe purpose of this research is to determine if the oral form of a medication (tranexamic acid) to reduce bleeding can be used in place of an intravenous (IV) form, to learn the best way to give tranexamic acid: either a pill by mouth, or a solution by vein.
