The Association Between Uterine Artery Notch and First Trimester Bleeding

Uterine Artery NotchFirst Trimester Bleeding

The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the occurrence of first trimester bleeding among patients with abnormal uterine artery Doppler. A prospective study is designed and two groups will be studied; patients with abnormal uterine artery Doppler at second trimester (study group) and patient with normal uterine artery Doppler at second trimester (control group). The patients will be asked, as part of the routine history taken before the US about having first trimester bleeding during the current pregnancy.

Endometrial HyperplasiaEndometrial Cancer2 more

This study, conducted jointly by the National Cancer Institute and the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research Northwest (KPCHRN) in Portland, Oregon, will lay the groundwork for a future study to identify precursors of endometrial cancer; that is, conditions that precede development of cancer of the lining of the uterus. The diagnosis of endometrial hyperplasia (a condition of abnormal proliferation of endometrial tissue) includes most precursors of endometrial cancer, as well as many benign conditions. Currently, three methods of classifying endometrial cancer precursors have been suggested based on endometrial hyperplasia findings, but it is not known which classification best predicts cancer risk. This study will examine surgical specimens of hyperplasia and cancer from women diagnosed with endometrial cancer at least 2 years after a diagnosis of endometrial hyperplasia. Investigators will estimate the percentage of cases with different degrees of hyperplasia, and assess the subsequent cancers that developed. This will allow them to rank hyperplasia lesions according to cancer risk and identify lesions that represent the most immediate cancer precursors. They will also review patients medical charts for information related to cancer risk and treatment. Study participants will include women enrolled in the KPCHRN who are 40 years of age or older and who were diagnosed with endometrial cancer at least 2 years after being diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia.

Neurophysiology and Anatomy of Severe Intraventricular Hemorrhage (IVH)

Intracranial HemorrhagesPrematurity

Currently, when premature infants develop severe intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), a type of intracerebral bleed, there are no proven therapeutic interventions to prevent the devastating consequences of this event. These children will be likely to develop cerebral palsy or severe cognitive delays. The purpose of our study is to characterize differences in brain physiology, imaging, and function between premature infants with severe IVH and controls. The goals for gathering this information are to generate baseline data, which could facilitate early screening for complications of IVH in premature infants. These baseline data would also allow the design and implementation of early therapeutic interventions to help rehabilitate premature infants with severe IVH.

Validation of the ICH Score for the Prediction of 12-month Functional Outcome in Patients With Primary...

Intra Cerebral Hemorrhage

The goal of this observational study is to analyze the validity of the intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) Score and a new modified ICH score for the prediction of 12-month functional outcome in patients with primary ICH. Participants who were admitted to NTUH rehabilitation ward will be followed up to 12 months after the onset of ICH. The follow-up will be conducted by phone interviews.

Anticoagulation in Chronic Hemodialysis Patients Versus Hemodialyzer Fiber Patency, Bleedings and...

Blood Coagulation

Stable chronic hemodialysis patients are included in this observational study. After a midweek dialysis (test moment 1), the hemodialyzer is dried and scanned in a micro Computed Tomography scanner to quantify the number of patent fibers. All dialysis parameters are collected as well as the anticoagulation dose. During the same session, patients are asked about their bleeding and quality of life status. Four (test moment 2) respectively eight weeks later (test moment 3), patients are asked again for their bleeding and quality of life status using validated questionnaires.

Analysis of Hematoma Following Breast Surgery

HematomaPostoperative Bleeding

A retrospective review of patients who developed hematoma following breast surgery from 2003 to 2018 in a single institution was performed. The study investigated the value of closed-suction drains regarding the quantity and quality of fluid secretion for the prediction of subcutaneous hematoma in patients undergoing breast surgery procedures.
