Antithrombotic and anticoagulant therapy after catheter ablation determines the occurrence of perioperative bleeding and ischemic events. However, the incidence, characteristics and short-term prognosis of secondary acute cerebrovascular events in patients with arrhythmia after catheter ablation have not been studied. Methods: This study was intended to retrospectively collect and analyze the case data and auxiliary examination results of patients with arrhythmia who underwent catheter ablation. To evaluate the incidence, clinical features and short-term prognosis of secondary acute ischemic and hemorrhagic cerebrovascular events in patients with arrhythmia after catheter ablation. In order to improve the quality of life of patients, reduce the secondary acute cerebrovascular complications in the hospital in patients with arrhythmia after catheter ablation, to provide evidence for promoting the clinical management of such patients, and to provide help for the maximum degree of prevention and control risk.

Bio-Repository of DNA in Stroke: an Epidemiological and Genetic Study

Subjects recruited from the United Kingdom (UK) will include stroke patients of European ancestry as well as British South Asians. Stroke subjects from South Asia will be recruited from India and Sri Lanka. Subjects are also recruited in Qatar. South Asian cases will also have control subjects recruited.
Prognosis and Diagnosis of Spasticity in Acute-post Stroke Patients
StrokeAcute4 moreSpasticity, or greater muscle resistance, is a major disabling condition following stroke. Recovery of lost motor function in patients with stroke may be affected by spasticity, which most commonly develops in elbow and ankle muscles. However, despite its clinical relevance, the natural development of spasticity over the first 3 months after stroke is not clearly understood. Indeed, common clinical measures of spasticity such as the Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) do not take into account the neurophysiological origin of spasticity and lack reliability and objectivity. The objective of this study is to examine the natural history of the development of spasticity among patients with stroke over the first 3 months using a new neurophysiological measure (TSRT, the tonic stretch reflex threshold angle) and its velocity sensitivity (mu) in comparison to MAS and other common clinical tests. In addition, detailed brain imaging will be used to understand the relationship between damage to brain regions relevant to the development of spasticity and TSRT/mu values. It is hypothesized that 1) TSRT/mu will indicate the presence of spasticity earlier than MAS/clinical tests; 2) TSRT/mu measures will be more closely related to motor impairments and activity limitations than MAS; 3) the lesion severity (identified by imaging) will be related to the change in TSRT/mu values. Outcomes will be measured in a pilot cohort of 12 patients hospitalized for first-ever stroke. Measurements will be taken at the bedside within the 1st week of the patient's admission and will be done once per week for 12 weeks with a follow-up at week 16. Brain Imaging will be done around the 6th week post-stroke.
FIND Stroke Recovery - A Longitudinal Study

Some will recover fully after stroke and others will have permanent impairments. Few studies show trajectories of recovery in different domains after stroke, hence recovery time-lines are not fully known. Also, the whole range of mechanisms leading to recovery are not precisely known (1). To monitor those mechanisms one can utilize biomarkers. In parallel to the studies of recovery, studies on time series of biomarkers after stroke are limited (2). Hence, a crucial first step to increase knowledge on biomarkers of stroke recovery is to gain a better understanding of the time course of both stroke recovery and biomarker patterns. Biomarkers can later be used for outcome predictions after stroke.

Correlation Between Intestinal Microecology Imbalance and Stroke in Young Adults
Ischemic StrokeHemorrhagic StrokeThe relationship between the intestinal microecology and stroke has become a research hotspot in neurology field today. Maintaining the balance of the intestinal microbiota are expected to bring new breakthroughs for prevention and treatment of stroke. In recent years, stroke in young adults has an increasing incidence and a considerable socioeconomic impact because of high disability rate and health-care costs. So there is an urgent need to explore the role and mechanism of intestinal microecology imbalance in stroke, especially in the development and prognosis of stroke in young people. This study aims to use multi-omics technologies, including microbial diversity, metagenomics and metabonomics, to reveal the characteristics of intestinal flora in young stroke patients, identify biomarkers for predicting outcome after stroke and early detection of young people at high risk of stroke, and to further explore the role of gut-brain axis in the pathogenesis of stroke.
