A Study of Ritonavir-Boosted Danoprevir (RO5190591) in Combination With Pegasys and Ribavirin in...
Hepatitis CChronicThis study will evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of danoprevir (RO5190591) plus ritonavir as compared to danoprevir alone or placebo plus ritonavir in patients with chronic hepatitis C genotype 1 receiving Pegasys (peginterferon alfa-2a) and ribavirin. Patients in cohorts will be randomized to receive either oral doses of danoprevir, or danoprevir plus ritonavir, or placebo plus ritonavir. All patients will receive Pegasys (180mcg sc once weekly) plus ribavirin (1000-1200mg/day po), with the option to continue this treatment after completion of study drug treatment. Anticipated time on study treatment is up to 12 weeks.

HIDIT II - PegIFN-alfa2a Plus Tenofovir in Chronic Delta Hepatitis
Hepatitis DRandomized, double blind study comparing the efficacy of pegylated interferon-alfa2a plus placebo versus pegylated interferon-alfa2a plus tenofovir for the treatment of chronic delta hepatitis. 70 Patients will be randomized 1:1 into the two groups. Treatment duration: 96 weeks. Follow-up: 24 weeks. Long-term-follow-up: until week 358.

Safety and Efficacy of Telaprevir in Combination With Peginterferon Alfa-2a and Ribavirin in Subjects...
Hepatitis CHIV InfectionsThe purpose of this study is to determine whether the combination of telaprevir, peginterferon alfa-2a, and ribavirin is safe and effective in treating hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in subjects who are infected with both HCV and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Short Term Treatment With BI 201335, Peginterferon-alpha 2a and Ribavirin in Hepatitis c Virus Genotype-1...
Hepatitis CTo compare the antiviral efficacy and safety of a 12-week with a 24-week treatment of BI 201335 at a dose of 120 mg once daily, with a 24-week background of pegylated interferon-alpha 2a (PegIFN) plus ribavirin (RBV), in treatment-naïve patients infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1

Simvastatin for the Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis B
Hepatitis BThe investigators have shown robust in vitro anti-hepatitis B activity of simvastatin alone and synergistic activity with all four FDA-approved anti-hepatitis B oral drugs tested. The investigators propose phase 1 studies in 48 chronic hepatitis B human carriers who have never been treated before. Doses of drugs will remain at or below FDA-approved dosage levels for cholesterol lowering (simvastatin) or hepatitis B (tenofovir or entecavir). Arm 1 will have simvastatin monotherapy only. Arm 2 will combine simvastatin with tenofovir. Arm 3 will combine simvastatin with entecavir. For maximum safety, the 3 arms and the dose groups in each arm will be filled consecutively and not concurrently. The definition of efficacy for simvastatin alone will be a 1 log drop of hepatitis B virus in 14 days. Efficacy for combination of drugs will require a 2 log drop of hepatitis B virus in 14 days. Numerous safety tests and stop rules are noted in the protocol.

Ribavirin Pre-treatment Followed by Combined Standard Therapy in Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Recipients...
Hepatitis CThe results of antiviral therapy in patients with recurrent hepatitis C after liver transplantation are lower than standard. Ribavirin has immune-modulating effects and seems to be crucial to optimize viral treatment. The aim of this multicenter controlled study is to examine the effect of Ribavirin pre-treatment preceding the combination therapy with peginterferon plus ribavirin on the sustained virological response.

Safety and Immunogenicity of a Naked DNA-based Vaccine Therapy in Patients With Chronic Hepatitis...
Chronic Hepatitis BThe purpose of this study was to investigate whether HBV-DNA vaccination is safe and could restore immune responses in patients with chronic hepatitis B non responder to available therapies.

Sustained Virological Response (SVR) to Antiviral Treatment of Liver Transplant Recipients With...
Hepatitis CLiver TransplantationThis study will assess the rates of Sustained Virological Response following anti-viral therapy with Peg-Interferon plus Ribavirin in patients that have been liver transplanted with recurrent Hepatitis C and treated with Neoral or tacrolimus.

Safety and Tolerability Study of Clemizole Hydrochloride to Treat Hepatitis C in Subjects Who Are...
Hepatitis CThe purpose of this study is to test the hypothesis that clemizole hydrochloride is safe and well tolerated when administered to subjects who are infected with hepatitis C virus and have not yet received treatment. This study will also examine how the virus and body respond to clemizole hydrochloride.

N-Acetylcysteine in Severe Acute Alcoholic Hepatitis
Alcoholic HepatitisAcute alcoholic hepatitis (AAH) is the most severe form of alcoholic liver disease (ALD) and is associated with a high risk of dying in the short term. Corticosteroids are generally recommended in patients with severe AAH, but its use is still controverted and contraindicated in case of active infection or gastrointestinal bleeding. Therefore, alternative therapeutic options are needed.Ethanol consumption results in the depletion of endogenous antioxidant capabilities and patients with ALD have evidence of antioxidant deficiencies.Due to its effects on glutathion stores restoration and as such the limitation of the oxidative stress and its good tolerance and safety profile, N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is an attractive agent for the treatment of AAH.In this context, we hypothesized that NAC might be beneficial in severe AAH.
