A Study to Compare the Immune Response and Safety Elicited by Henogen's Adjuvanted Hepatitis B Vaccine...

Hepatitis B

The immune response of uraemic patients to hepatitis B vaccination is impaired compared to healthy subjects. After vaccination, anti-HBs peak antibody concentrations are reduced. As the persistence of anti-HBs is closely related to the initial anti-HBs peak, a more immunogenic vaccine, allowing higher antibody concentrations, would be a benefit for this population.

Effects of Low-dose Maintenance Peg Interferon Alfa-2b Therapy Versus Supportive Care in Patients...

Hepatitis CLiver Cirrhosis1 more

This is a Phase 3b, randomized, open-label, parallel-group, multi-center, multi-national study of low-dose maintenance Peg interferon alpha-2b (Peg-Intron®) in subjects with human immunodeficiency virus-hepatitis C virus (HIV-HCV) co-infection. The primary objective is to compare at end of study the efficacy of Peg-Intron® monotherapy (0.5 µg/kg subcutaneously once weekly for 24-36 months) versus standard supportive care, using the time to any of the following clinical events (death, decompensation, liver transplant, hepatocellular carcinoma [HCC]) as endpoints.

Effectiveness of Two Hepatitis B Vaccines in HIV-negative Youths

Hepatitis B

This study will evaluate 2 licensed vaccine products (Recombivax and Twinrix) given in a two-dose schedule to youth at risk for hepatitis B and HIV infection to evaluate immunogenicity of the products in this population, barriers to vaccine delivery, and factors which predict a diminished immune response. Since these youths are also potential candidates for future HIV vaccine trials, this study will also include preliminary assessment of youths' understanding of informed consent forms, and willingness to participate in a vaccine trial and return for multiple visits (including blood draws for immunologic assessment).

FibroScan in Patients With Hepatitis B and C Presenting for Liver Biopsy

CirrhosisHepatitis B1 more

This study will examine the effectiveness of the FibroScan device in differentiating fibrosis in patients with hepatitis B and C. The FibroScan measures liver stiffness and will be correlated to the liver biopsy to see if it can diagnose the stage of liver disease. Patients who are scheduled to have a liver biopsy will also have a fibroscan and the stiffness will be correlated with the biopsy stage.
