Chronic Hepatitis BThis study is being conducted to compare the safety and effectiveness of the investigational medication, LdT (Telbivudine) with Lamivudine, a drug currently approved by the US, European and Asian Health Authorities for the treatment of hepatitis B infection. The results for patients taking LdT will be compared to results for patients taking Lamivudine.
Improvement of Hard Endpoint in Chronic Hepatitis B Patients Treated With Antiviral Therapy
Chronic Hepatitis BPatients who have completed 3 years follow-up of the past Beijing Science and Technology Commission Research will receive another 7-years anti-viral therapy. Patients will be assessed at baseline and every six months for blood cell count, liver function test, HBVDNA, AFP, prothrombin time, liver ultrasonography, and Fibroscan. CT or MRI and endoscopy will be performed at baseline and 7 years. At the end of the study, the cumulative rate of clinical hepatic hard endpoint will be calculated.

Chronic Hepaititis BThis is a multi-center, single-arm, open-label study on the virological response of chronic HBV infection to pegyinterferon-alfa-2a among patients who achieved HBeAg seroconversion on nucleos(t)ide analogue (NA) treatment. The primary endpoint of this study is to investigate the sustained response (HBeAg seroconversion with HBV DNA <2000 IU/ml) to peginterferon at 24 weeks after the end of treatment.

Hepatitis BHepatitis B1 moreThe natural history and response to therapy of chronic hepatitis B infection in West Africa are currently poorly understood. In this study, employees of the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Board (CBCHB) and spouses who are found to be hepatitis B positive on screening will be offered enrollment. Disease monitoring and treatment will be provided following current WHO guidelines. Clinical data will be prospectively recorded for 5 years, and bio-specimens will be frozen for future analysis.

Hepatitis BChronicThis open-label, randomized, parallel-arm study will assess the early immunologic response in treatment-naïve Asian male patients with chronic hepatitis B after initiation of treatment with Pegasys or tenofovir or Pegasys plus tenofovir. Patients will be randomized to one of 4 cohorts to receive either Pegasys (360mcg subcutaneously weekly) or tenofovir (300mg orally daily) or both or no treatment for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks on study treatment, patients may opt to receive standard of care treatment with Pegasys. Target sample size is <50.
