Hepatitis B Vaccine in Seniors

Hepatitis B Vaccination

The first purpose of this study is to test the body's protective reaction (making antibodies) to a licensed hepatitis B vaccine (Recombivax-HB) after it is injected either in the arm fat or muscle. Hepatitis B virus is an important cause of liver disease in humans. More than 21% of healthy adults over age 60 years demonstrate evidence of previous Hepatitis B infection using a common blood test. The second purpose of this study is to learn more information about other reasons (such as body fat content, gene types, etc.), why older people respond less well than younger people to vaccines. The Investigators will also learn more about the ability of certain white blood cells, called T cells, to respond to protein signals in the blood. T cells do not seem to respond as well to these protein signals as individuals age. The Investigators will compare results to a younger group of volunteers who have also been vaccinated with hepatitis B vaccine.

48 Weeks Combination Therapy for Patients With HBeAg-negative Chronic Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) Infection...

Hepatitis B

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether in patients with chronic HBeAg-negative hepatitis B, PEG-IFN-ribavirin combination therapy for 1 year leads to enhanced response (HBV DNA <10E4 copies/ml and normal ALT 24 weeks after treatment discontinuation) in comparison with pegylated interferon (PEG-IFN) monotherapy.

Pilot Study: Gene Expression Profiling of Immune Response to HBV Vaccination in Healthy Volunteers...

Hepatitis B

Vaccines have been responsible for preventing millions of deaths and extending the average human lifespan. Effective vaccines stimulate the cells of the immune system to activate genes and associated functions that bring about protective immunity. This study aims to define cellular functions and genes important for the hepatitis B (HBV) vaccine immune response in healthy individuals. The investigators hypothesize that many genes associated with innate and adaptive immune functions are important for an effective HBV vaccine response.

A Study to Evaluate the Safety, Tolerability and Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of RO7062931in...

Chronic Hepatitis B

This randomized study will be conducted in two parts to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacokinetics of subcutaneous administration of RO7062931. Part 1 will include only healthy participants and Part 2 will include only participants with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). Part 1 is an adaptive, single-ascending dose study with an adaptive dose-escalating schedule to determine the best dose to be evaluated in participants with CHB. Part 2 is an adaptive, parallel multiple-dose study comprised of three sub-parts which will be used to further refine the dose and dosing regimen, and to evaluate the safety and efficacy of RO7062931 when administered with standard-of-care (SoC) therapy.

Hepatitis BChronic

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and reactogenicity of escalating doses of JNJ-64300535 delivered via electroporation-mediated intramuscular injection in nucleos(t)ide analogs (NA)-treated chronic hepatitis B (CHB) participants.

A Comparative Trial of Improving Care for Underserved Asian Americans Infected With HBV

Hepatitis B

Asian Americans have the highest incidence, mortality and prevalence rates of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) among all U.S. racial and ethnic groups. The goal of this study is to investigate the efficacy of a Patient Navigator-led mobile phone text Messaging Intervention (PNMI) in improving hepatitis B follow-up care management for Asian Americans with chronic hepatitis B infection through a randomized controlled trial.
