Prevalence and Burden of Hepatitis D Virus Infection in China Through Preoperative Examination Test...

Hepatitis DHepatitis B2 more

In China, there is no recommendation for Hepatitis D virus (HDV) screening, but the fact is estimated that one-third of the world's population of individuals with chronic Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection live in China while we do not know the prevalence of co-infection of HBV/HDV in China. So far, no nationwide study has been undertaken to evaluate the epidemiology of hepatitis D, on the other hand, reports of HDV infection rate in different regions of China are not consistent because of the different detection methods and detection objects. Here, we plan to test HDV-Ab/RNA for 5000 HBsAg reactive samples from 10 major tertiary hospital and to know the prevalence and disease burden of HDV in China.

First Time in Human Study to Assess the Safety, Tolerability and Pharmacokinetics of GSK3389404...

Hepatitis B

This study is a Phase 1, randomized, double-blind (Sponsor unblinded), placebo controlled, dose escalation study to determine the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics (PK) profile of GSK3389404 as single (Part 1) and multiple subcutaneous (SC) injections (Part 2) in healthy subjects. This study represents the first administration of GSK3389404 in humans to define the safety, tolerability and PK following single and multiple doses of GSK3389404 in healthy subjects.

HBsAg Loss Adding Pegylated Interferon in HBeAg-negative Patients

Chronic Hepatitis B (HBeAg-negative)

Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) affects more than 350 million people worldwide. The most common form in Europe is CHB HBeAg-negative. Antiviral treatment of CHB HBeAg-negative patients includes chronic administration of nucleos(t)ide analogues (NUC) or pegylated interferon (PegIFN) during 12 months. Typically, PegIFN allows immune control of CHB and antigen "s" (HBsAg) loss in around 4% of patients compared to less than 0,1% using NUC. Recently, it has been described that HBsAg quantification (HBsAg-q) is useful to identify patients with high probability to lose HBsAg during follow-up. In addition, a proof-of-concept study with nine HBeAg-negative patients receiving NUC showed that adding PegIFN (16 weeks) achieved HBsAg loss in one patient (11%). The aim of our study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety adding PegIFN (48 weeks) in treated HBeAg-negative patients with NUC.

A Study to Characterise Immune Responses Following Immunisations With "Fendrix" or "Engerix B" Hepatitis...

Hepatitis B

The purpose of this study is to generate an exploratory training set of data and to identify predictive biomarkers (a measurable biological response that predicts something) of innate and adaptive responses to immunisation of two vaccines utilizing different adjuvant technology given according to approved schedules to healthy adult volunteers. The vaccines are model agents selected as they match antigens but have discordant adjuvants, have a known immunogenicity profile, assays are freely available to measure responses, and they are safe to administer to healthy adults at the doses and schedules proposed. This study will strive to correlate biomarker activity with observed immunological responses to vaccination and if successful, these biomarkers could be used in early stage clinical trials to optimize selection of vaccine candidates with a profile that will be most likely to be effective once they are in generalized use.

Effect of Antiviral Therapy on Host Immune in Patients With Chronic Hepatitis B Virus(HBV) Infection...

HBeAg Positive Chronic Hepatitis B Infection

During hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection host immune plays important role.Recently there are many different antiviral therapy methods.Different antiviral therapy methods showed different effector. In order to investigate whether these antiviral therapy methods especially methods directly inhibit viral replication have some effect on host immune the investigators designed these study. The investigators want to observe the change of host immune during antiviral therapy in patients with chronic HBV infection, and analyze the relationship between these changes and the antiviral effector of these drugs.

Project UNITY - HIV Risk Reduction and Vaccine Education Interventions

HIV InfectionsHepatitis B

To determine the efficacy of an enhanced HIV risk reduction intervention delivered concurrently with a vaccination schedule to reduce the number of unprotected vaginal and anal sex acts among HIV-negative, high-risk non-injection drug-using (NIDU) women. To determine the efficacy of an enhanced vaccine education intervention delivered at baseline to increase vaccine knowledge and understanding of a potential HIV vaccine among HIV-negative, high-risk NIDU women.

Pain at Hepatitis B Vaccine in Preterm Infants

InfantNewborn1 more

Many painful interventions that cause pain and stress are applied to preterm babies in the neonatal intensive care unit for diagnosis and treatment. In neonatal care and reduction of acute interventional pain; Non-pharmacological methods including behavioral, psychological and environmental regulations should be used. In the hepatitis B vaccine administered to preterm babies, stimulating the grasping reflex can make the preterm baby feel safe and calm. In the literature, there are many studies aimed at reducing pain in preterm newborns. However, no study has been found on the effect of grasping reflex stimulation on pain and crying in hepatitis B vaccine administration to preterm infants. This study was planned to examine the effect of grasping reflex on pain and crying duration in preterm infants with hepatitis B vaccine.
