Identification of Biomarkers Associated With Human Hepatocellular Carcinoma by SELDI
Hepatocellular CarcinomaHepatitis B1 moreHepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has been the leading cause of cancer death in Taiwan. Though Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and des-γ-carboxy prothrombin(DCP) are used as the tumor markers for diagnosis of HCCs. Thus, these two markers are not good enough for the early detection of small HCCs. To improve the survival, further investigations of the early diagnostic markers are still needed. SELDI is a proteomic profiling techniques in biomarker discovery. Its approach has been successfully used to identify biomarkers of various cancers, such as prostate cancer, bladder cancer, ovarian cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer and pancreatic cancer. In this current project we will apply the SELDI technique to identify the HCC biomarkers. Sera samples from the HCC patients and relevant controls will be collected. We hope that we can find the new HCC biomarkers. If biomarkers of HCC are identified, this can be used to clinical application for the possible early detection of HCCs.
Hepatitis C (HCV) Cure and Kidney Health
Hepatitis CThe purpose of this study is to learn how 12 weeks of HCV treatment with elbasvir and grazoprevir (brand name Zepatier) impacts your kidney function.
Clinical Profile of Parkinson's Disease in Patients With Hepatitis C Infection
Parkinson DiseaseThere is association between Hepatitis C and Parkinson's Disease as shown from previous studies. The clinical profile and natural history is not fully studied yet. We aim at studying the clinical characteristics of Parkinson's Disease in patients with hepatitis C infection.
Re-linkage to Care of Patients With Hepatitis C
Viral Hepatitis CThe purpose of this study is to identify patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) who were lost of follow up and relinkage them to hepatitis C care
Prediction of Incidence of Liver Cancer by Use of Real-time Tissue Elastography
Chronic Hepatitis BChronic Hepatitis CThis is a multi-center cohort study in which the Real-time Tissue Elastography® measurements will predict prospectively the incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma, the incidence and severity of gastroesophageal varices ascites and decompensated cirrhosis in hepatitis B or C patients.
Innate Immunity in HIV Positive Patients Co-infected With Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) or Hepatitis B...
HIV-hepatitis Co-infectionHIV InfectionsData from this study will provide the first information how the innate immune system may be altered in HIV-HCV and HIV-HBV co-infected individuals, and describe Toll-like receptor changes with HIV co-infection therapy.
Application of 18F-FDOPA PET in Research of the Association Between HCV Infection and Parkinson's...
Hepatitis C-[18F]Fluoro-L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (18F-FDOPA) positron emission tomography (PET) is a imaging marker for presynaptic dopaminergic neuronal function. The decreased uptake of 18F-FDOPA in the posterior putamen is demonstrated in the early course of PD, and could differentiate early PD from healthy controls. The objective of this study is to investigate the evidence of presynaptic dopaminergic neuronal dysfunction in the preclinical stage of PD, which may be associated with HCV infection.
Role OF OCT-A TO Detect Possible Retinal Vascular Complications of Sofosbuvir in Patients With Hepatitis...
HCV InfectionThe purpose of this study is to prospectively evaluate the value of Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) for the of detection of suspected retinal complications With Sofosbuvir (Sovaldi) in Patients With Hepatitis C Virus Infection
Conquering Hepatitis C Via Micro-Elimination in Southwest Virginia
Hepatitis CThe objective of this protocol is to conduct a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative assessment of the impact of our innovative collaborative telehealth HCV care model on patient treatment experiences and quality of life.
Epidemiology of Hepatitis B, C and Delta in Reunion Island
Hepatitis BHepatitis C1 moreViral hepatitis B, C and Δ represent a global public health problem for which France was very early mobilized. Despite this, in its foreword, the Dhumeaux report on "Management of people infected with hepatitis B or hepatitis C viruses" identifies a residual area of weakness in this care that is the incomplete regional epidemiological data in the Overseas Territories. The specific ethno-socio-cultural characteristics of these territories make it difficult to transpose data from the mainland France. This study aims at improving our knowledge on the characteristics of patients with hepatitis B, C and Δ in Reunion Island, their follow-up, their evolution and complications.
