Long Term Immunogenicity Study of Engerix-B Vaccine in 10 Year Old Children and the Effect of Booster...
Hepatitis BVaccinationHepatitis B immunization has been offered to all grade 4 students (age 9-10) in the province of Quebec, using Engerix-B at a dose of 10 mkg. The peak incidence of hepatitis B occurs between age 15 and 35; the proportion of vaccinated children who will still be protected at this age is currently unknown. This study is designed to determine: persistence of immunity until age 25 persistence of immunological memory as demonstrated by an anamnestic response following a booster dose the effect of a booster dose on immunogenicity at either 5, 10 or 15 years after the primary vaccination course (at age (15, 20 or 25).

A Safety and Efficacy Study of the Hepatitis E Vaccine in Nepal.
HepatitisThe purpose of this study is to determine if a hepatitis E vaccine is safe and able to prevent symptomatic liver disease due to the hepatitis E virus.

LT F-up Study 16-20 Yrs After Vaccine Dose of Hepatitis B With/Without HBIg in Newborns to HBeAg+...
Hepatitis BTo evaluate the persistence of anti-HBs antibodies up to 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 years after administration of the first dose of the study vaccine. The Protocol Posting has been updated in order to comply with the FDA Amendment Act, Sep 2007. No additional subjects will be recruited during this long-term follow-up study and no vaccine will be administered.

Comparison of a DTaP-IPV-HB-PRP~T Combined Vaccine to Infanrix™-Hexa, When Administered With Prevnar®...
Hepatitis BPolio3 moreThe purpose of the study is to provide immunogenicity and safety data of the investigational hexavalent vaccine when it is given concomitantly (the same day at separate injection sites) with Prevnar, according to the 2-4-6 month immunization schedule, following one dose of HB vaccine at birth. Primary Objective: To demonstrate that the hexavalent DTaP-IPV-HB-PRP~T combined vaccine induces an immune response that is at least as good as the response following Infanrix™-Hexa in terms of seroprotection rates to HB and PRP, one month after a 3 dose primary series (2, 4, and 6 months), when co-administered with Prevnar® Secondary Objectives: Immunogenicity: To describe in each group the immunogenicity parameters to each vaccine component (for DTaP-IPV-HB-PRP~T and Infanrix™-Hexa) one month after the third dose of the primary series. Safety: To describe the overall safety after each injection.

Optimizing Hepatitis B Vaccine Response Through the Use of a Topical Immune Modulator
Hepatitis BThis study will look at what happens to the level of protection against hepatitis B (HB) disease if a 'helper' gel is applied to the skin over the injection site of a small dose of hepatitis B vaccine.

Pneumococcal Vaccine and Routine Pediatric Immunizations in HIV-Infected Children Receiving Anti-HIV...
HIV InfectionsHepatitis B3 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine if 2 doses of Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV) followed by 1 dose of Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Vaccine (PPV) in HIV-infected children on anti-HIV therapy is helpful and safe in fighting pneumococcal infections in this group of children. This study will also look at the protection provided by childhood vaccination against measles, pertussis, and hepatitis B virus. Pneumococcal infections are the most common AIDS-related infection in HIV-infected children. PCV may help reduce the chances of HIV-infected children getting pneumococcal infections. This study will look at whether pneumococcal vaccines are safe and effective in HIV-infected children receiving HAART. It will look at whether HIV-infected children are protected by childhood vaccines received previously and if more doses are safe and improve protection.

Evaluating Silymarin for Chronic Hepatitis C
Hepatitis CChronicTo investigate the effect of silymarin, derived from the milk thistle plant, Silybum marianum, in preventing and reversing the complications of chronic infection with hepatitis C virus and/or clearing hepatitis C infections.
