Immune Function Status and the Prevalence of Hepatitis in Postpartum Pregnant Women With CHB Infection...

Chronic Hepatitis B

To date, several studies have manifested that high levels of adrenal corticosteroids and oestrogen hormones during pregnancy can lead to increased HBV viraemia. These hormonal and immune function status changes can result in minimal fluctuations in liver function tests. Serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) tends to increase in late pregnancy and the postpartum period. Peripartum hepatitis flares leading to hepatic decompensation have been reported. Therefore, the investigators aim to detect and observe the immune function status and incidence of hepatitis in pregnant women with chronic hepatitis B virus infection in late pregnancy and the postpartum period. To provide a clinical evidence for the administration of chronic hepatitis B virus infection pregnant women.

Hepatitis c and Vitamin D and Iron Status

Hepatitis C

HCV is associated with vitamin D deficiency. Iron overload is frequently occurred in chronic hepatitis C patients; more than one third of HCV positive patients have elevated serum iron, ferritin, and transferrin which were linked to bad prognosis. Hepcidin is a regulatory peptide that is mainly synthesized by the liver cells and plays an important role in iron homeostasis. There is an interaction between iron metabolism and vitamin D metabolism. Iron is essential for vitamin D activation and vitamin D deficiency is associated with elevated hepcidin level, which partly accounts for anemia associated with vitamin D deficiency. Up to our knowledge, little is known about the association between vitamin D status and iron metabolism in HCV patients.

Seroimmunity 2007 and Sub Study of the Swedish Population Regarding Vaccine Preventable Disease...

DiphtheriaTetanus7 more

This is a randomized cross-sectional study of the Swedish population. Blood samples will be collected from a subpopulation in order to estimate the age specific sero-prevalence of the Swedish population for diseases included in the National Immunization Program (NIP), and to affirm the population's protection against polio. To be able to recommend complementary immunizations to immigrated children, a sub study focusing on foreign born teenagers will also be done and compared to children of the same age born in Sweden.

Exploration of Chronic Hepatitis C Infection Receiving 24-week Interferon-α With Ribavirin Treatments...

Chronic Hepatitis C

The aims of this three-year study are to explore symptom experience and its related factors for the patients with chronic hepatitis C Infection receiving interferon-α with ribavirin for 24 weeks and further to predict the relative risk of failure or occurence of severe side effects which interrupt the treatment.

Compare to the Safety of Efavirenz and Nevirapine in Treating HIV Positive Patients With Mild Baseline...

HIV InfectionsLiver Toxicity1 more

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the difference in frequency and level of liver function disturbance between patients on efavirenz based ART, and patients on nevirapine based ART in HBV and HCV co-infected patients, (and/or with patients with abnormal liver function prior to ART), in China. Liver function tests will be measured at baseline and follow-up.

Examining the Immune Response in Patients With Gaucher Disease and Hepatitis C

Gaucher DiseaseHepatitis C

Study objectives: Investigate the anti-HCV response in patients with Gaucher disease(GD) Define the potential role of high levels of Glucocerebroside in the immune system Study hypothesis: High levels of Glucocerebroside can be used as a tool in the antiviral treatment of hepatitis C by potentiating the immune response of natural killer T cells and dendritic cells

Efficacy, Safety and Adherence of Patients Infected With Hepatitis C Virus in Retreat With INFERGEN...

Hepatitis C

This is a Phase 4, descriptive, observational, open, prospective study of patients who their doctor prescribes INFERGEN for clinical practice. No medication was provided by the sponsor. The planned observation time is 48 weeks and 24 weeks of follow-up. Each investigator participating in this registry will employ his or her discretion and standard clinical practice to determine when to see the patient in the clinic, how to manage the patient's drug regimen, and how best to monitor the patient's response and tolerance to therapy.

Entecavir for Chronic Hepatitis B in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients Underwent Radiofrequency...

Chronic Hepatitis BHepatocellular Carcinoma

Persistent replication of HBV (47-55%) is frequently found in patients with HCC, which in turn leads to deterioration of liver reserve. Moreover, a large proportion of HCC patients who underwent curative therapy died from progressive liver decompensation rather than recurrence of cancer. It had been proved that anti-viral therapy for hepatitis C virus (HCV)-related HCC patients could reduce the rate of tumor recurrence after surgical resection. This is a prospective study to evaluate the efficacy of ETV therapy in chronic hepatitis B patients after receiving RFA therapy for HCC.

A Surveillance Program for the Detection of Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) Resistance to Tenofovir in HIV-HBV...

HIV InfectionsHepatitis B Virus

Human immunodeficiency virus/Hepatitis B virus (HIV/HBV) co-infections are frequently observed due to shared routes of transmission, with reported figures indicating 6-9% of HIV-infected individuals in developed countries are chronically infected with HBV. HIV infection impacts on the natural progression of HBV infection, increasing levels of HBV replication and the risk of liver-associated mortality. Liver diseases associated with HBV are affected by the antiviral drugs used for HIV infection (toxic side effects), the current immune function in the patient, by improvements in the immune system brought about by control of the HIV infection, and by the development of resistance to the antiviral agents used for both the hepatitis B and the HIV infection. Tenofovir (TDF) is a newer antiviral drug that is frequently used for HIV infection and is also highly active against hepatitis B; however it is still unknown whether resistance to TDF will eventually develop and how this will affect the long-term outcomes

Correlation Between Cytokines and Hepatic Histology in Patients Infected by HIV-1 and the Hepatitis-C...

Acquired Immune Deficiency SyndromeHepatitis5 more

This study aims at correlating TNF-α, INF-γ, IL-2, IL-4, IL-10 and TGF-β values as dosed by ELISA and mRNA expression by real-time PCR with histopathological hepatic biopsy findings in individuals with HIV/HCV coinfection. This population will be divided into three groups (G1: with no HAART; G2: with detected HIV viral load (HIV VL); G3: with undetected HIV VL), which will be then compared to two control groups with monoinfection by HIV or by HCV, in addition to a third control group comprising normal blood donors.
