This study was divided into laparoscopic hepatectomy (observation group) and laparoscopic hepatectomy (control group).Compared two groups of age, sex, body mass index (BMI), tumor diameter, number of tumors (single/multiple), pathologic characteristics, HBsAg (positive/negative), liver function, AFP, Child - Pugh, grading, nursing method and comparison of two groups of patients after surgery (surgical incision length, intraoperative blood, intraoperative blood transfusion and transfusion volume, operation time) the number of cases of and postoperative rehabilitation (death cases, for the first time the meal time, anus exhaust time, analgesic bed, first time, the abdominal cavity drainage tube time, length of hospital stay, postoperative days and liver function index.Follow-up: the survival rates of the two groups were compared in six months, one year, two years, three years and five years.In this study, the initial selection of the minimum sample size of 30 cases, plus 20% inefficiencies, the final initial selection of 36 cases, and the later expansion of the sample size of 100 cases.The research date starts on October 1, 2017.

This study aims to recruit 3000 people with liver cirrhosis into a Prospective cohort for early detection of Liver cancer - the Pearl cohort. The study team believe that using a combination of novel tests may improve the detection of early Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC).

National Polish Registry of Minimally Invasive Liver Surgery

After the two consensus meetings on laparoscopic liver resection in Louisville (2008) and in Morioka (2014) minimally invasive approach for liver resection was finally widely established in liver surgery practice. Successively more countries follow laparoscopic liver pioneers and apply laparoscopic liver surgery for everyday practice. Primary aim of the study is to assess the evolution and diffusion of minimally invasive liver surgery in Poland. Secondly, it will allow to assess the actual short- and long-term results of laparoscopic liver resections and compare it to the international benchmark values. The National Polish Registry of Minimally Invasive Liver Surgery will include data about all cases of laparoscopic liver resections performed in Poland since the first case in 2010. All surgical departments, where laparoscopic liverresection is regularly performed, will be invited. Data of demography, previous medical history, preoperative assessment, intraoperative and postoperative period, histopathological findings and long-term follow-up will be included in the registry. This study will be the first national report about diffusion of minimally invasive surgery in Poland.

Background: Primary Liver Cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related death worldwide. It is the cancer with the fastest rising incidence and mortality in the United States. Researchers want to learn more about liver cancer to help them design better treatments. Objective: To better understand liver cancer. Eligibility: People ages 18 and older who have liver cancer and had or are planning to have immune therapy Design: Participants will be screened with a review of their medical records. They will be asked about their medical history and test results. Participants will come to the NIH Clinical Center. During this visit, their medical records, test results, imaging studies, and tissue samples (if available) will be gathered. Participants will learn the results of a test to see if they have any mutations known to be connected to cancer. They will learn if there are treatment options for them. Participants will give blood, urine, and stool samples or rectal swabs. Participants will not have follow-up visits just for this study. If they join another NIH research study and have visits for this other study, their medical records; test results; and blood, urine, and stool samples may be collected. This will occur about every 3 months. If they have a biopsy or surgery on another study or as part of treatment and there is leftover tissue, researchers would like to collect some of that tissue. Participants will be contacted every 6 months by phone or e-mail. They will be asked about their health. They will provide any medical records, test results, and imaging studies. Participants will be followed on this study for life.

Accumulating evidence indicates that patient- derived organoids (PDOs) can predict drug responses in the clinic. Metastasis is the main cause of death in colorectal cancer patients, and the treatment of patients with liver metastasis remains poor. Tumor heterogeneity is the cause of treatment failure. In this study, we aim the investigate the consistency of drug sensitivity for the matched primary and metastatic tumor in patients with liver metastasis.

3D Bioprinted Models for Predicting Chemotherapy Response in Colorectal Cancer With/Without Liver...

Colorectal CancerColorectal Cancer Liver Metastasis

The therapeutic regimens of adjuvant and neoadjuvant chemotherapy for colorectal cancer (CRC) remain largely relied on clinical experience, and thus preclinical models are needed to guide individualized medicine. The investigators are going to establish 3D bioprinted CRC models and organoids from surgically resected tumor tissues of CRC patients with or without liver metastases. In vitro 3D models and organoids will be treated with the same chemotherapy drugs with the corresponding patients from whom the models are derived. The sensitivity of chemotherapy drugs will be tested in these two types of in vitro models, and the actual response to chemotherapy in patients will be evaluated. The predictive ability of 3D models for chemotherapy sensitivity in CRC patients will be compared with that of the organoids. This observational study will validate the potential value of 3D bioprinted tumor models in predicting the response to chemotherapy in CRC.
