Recurrency After Inguinal Herniorraphy With Bi-layer Mesh (BLM)

Inguinal Hernia

Aim The overall aim with this study is to improve outcome after inguinal hernia repair (IHR). It is not known today if a re-operation due to recurrence after bi-layer mesh IHR is more complicated than compared with the golden standard method. Method This project is a registry study. The National hernia register (Svenskt bråckregister, SBR) which started in 1992 include data that cover nearly 100% of all the country's hernia operations. Patient data are collected from SBR. Patients who at the time of surgery were between 18-75 years of age and operated on due to primary inguinal hernia with any of the two mentioned techniques between 1992-2012 are eligible

Feasibility of Re-TREPP in Patients With a Recurrent Inguinal Hernia After Previous TREPP Repair...

Recurrent Inguinal Hernia

The Trans REctussheath PrePeritoneal (TREPP) mesh repair was introduced in 2006 to decrease the risk of postoperative inguinal pain in hernia surgery. For the repair of a recurrent inguinal hernia after a primary TREPP an alternative open anterior route (Lichtenstein) may seem the most logical option, but coincides with an increased risk of chronic postoperative inguinal pain. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of a second TREPP procedure to repair a recurrent inguinal hernia after an initial TREPP repair. The hypothesis was that the technique is possible and does not lead to an increased risk of postoperative pain.

Nationwide Results on Chronic Pain After Bilateral Transabdominal Preperitoneal Inguinal Hernia...

HerniaInguinal1 more

Danish male patients who had undergone bilateral TAPP (July 2012 to June 2013) were recruited from the Danish Hernia Database and cross-checked with hospital files and the National Patient Registry. A standardized postal questionnaire was sent out two years after the index surgery to investigate Patients Related Outcome Measures (PROMs) such as chronic post-operative pain.

Retrospective Analysis of the Geriatric Patients Underwent Unilateral Inguinal Herniorrhaphy

Inguinal Hernia

The aim of this study is to compare the geriatric patients with the non-geriatrics undergoing outpatient unilateral herniorrhapy in terms of local anesthesia, sedation, recovery and early morbidity.

Mesh Fixation inTEP Inguinal Hernia Repair

Inguinal Hernia

Mesh fixation is used to prevent recurrence in TEP to the potential cost of pain. The aim was to evaluate the impact of permanent fixation (PF) versus non-permanent fixation (N-PF) of mesh in TEP repair for a primary inguinal hernia regarding chronic pain. A cohort of patients were studied for pain interfering with sexual activety. The hyopthesis is that fixation causes pain.

Pain and Convalescence After Laparoscopic Groin Hernia Repair

Inguinal HerniaConvalescence

The investigators want to identify limiting factors for short convalescence after laparoscopic groin hernia repair. Before the operation patients are given intensive structured information about one day´s convalescence. Patients fill out questionnaire before operation about several clinically relevant parameters. This is also done first 3 days after operation and after 1 month and 6 months. The patients are seen for clinical control at 1 and 6 months.

Chronic Pain After Groin Hernia Surgery in Women

HerniaInguinal2 more

The goal of this study was to evaluate chronic pain and reoperation rates due to recurrence after groin hernia surgery in women compared to men and surgical method.

Mesh and Mesh Fixation in Laparoscopic Groin Hernia Surgery

HerniaInguinal10 more

The study attempts to quantify the relative risks for recurrence depending on complex combinations of plausible risk factors, in particular mesh, mesh fixation, hernia size and hernia type. For this purpose the investigators will analyze data from the Swedish Hernia Registry (SHR).

Chronic Postoperative Pain After the Lichtenstein Groin Hernioplasty

HerniaInguinal6 more

The study attempts to quantify the relative risks for chronic postoperative inguinal pain (CPIP) after Lichtenstein repair of groin hernia, depending on mesh type and fixation suture material. For this purpose the investigators will analyze data from the Swedish Hernia Registry (SHR).
