Lichtenstein Patch or Prolene Hernia System (PHS) for Inguinal Hernia Repair

Chronic Pain

This randomised prospective study was designed to compare the convalescence and the long-term sequelae in inguinal hernia repair with either a bilayer mesh as devised by Gilbert (Prolene Hernia System®) or an onlay mesh applied according to Lichtenstein.

Long-term Follow-up of Incisional Hernia Repaired With Intraperitoneal Mesh

Incisional Hernia

The intraperitoneal repair has been proven safe for the repair of incisional hernia and is accepted, together with the subfascial or retromuscular repair as the "gold-standard" for the repair of incisional hernia. However no studies have convincingly proven that this approach is better than the on-lay repair. The authors believe that the intraperitoneal repair performs better than the on-lay repair for incisional hernia.

A Multi-site Trial Comparing Lichtensteins Operation and Prolene Hernia System in Inguinal HErnia...

Inguinal Hernia

Patients with a primary unilateral inguinal hernia are randomized to Lichtenstein's operation or Prolene Hernia System to repair their groin hernia. Follow up for three years with a total number of 4 clinical examinations. End point is postoperative pain and recurrences.

Effects of Hernia Repair on Men's Sexual Functions

HerniaInguinal2 more

In the literature, there are several studies that compare Laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal hernia repair (TEP) with Lichtenstein hernia (LH) repair. There are no studies that compare sexual functions on men's health and quality of life. Our aim was to study the sexual functions of men, who underwent TEP or LH repair according to Health Survey Scoring Demonstration (SF36) and The International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF).

Transverse Abdominis Plane Block in Laparoscopic Ventral Hernia Repair

Ventral Hernia

The current study aims to determine if transverse abdominis plane block using local anesthetic agents (bupivacaine 0.25% + Ropivacaine 0.20%) decreases the post operative pain and helps in early mobilization or discharge from hospital in patients undergoing laparoscopic ventral hernia repair.

Comparison Open Lichtenstein Repair and Totally Extraperitoneal Herniorrhaphy

Inguinal Hernia

comparison of early and long term results of open lichtenstein repair and totally extraperitoneal herniorrhaphy for primary inguinal hernias.

Onlay Mesh Hernioplasty Vs Sublay Mesh Hernioplasty for Paraumbilical Hernia Repair

Paraumbilical Hernia

It is a randomized controlled trial in which we are comparing onlay mesh hernioplasty with sublay mesh hernioplasty for paraumbilical hernia.

Inflammatory Stress Response in Pediatric Inguinal Hernia Repair

Inguinal HerniaIndirect9 more

Today there are various surgical techniques for inguinal hernia. In this study, investigators want to compare the ''PIRS'' operating technique laparoscopy and modified "Marcy" operating technique with open inguinal access. Investigators would compare both groups to find out witch one does the lesser inflammatory stress response on the organism.

Laparoscopic Versus Open Repair of Bilateral Primary Inguinal Hernia

Bilateral Inguinal HerniaPostoperative Complications

Currently, there is a controversy regarding the best approach for simultaneous repair of bilateral inguinal hernia. The aim of this study was to compare the outcome of laparoscopic versus open repair of bilateral inguinal hernia

Retrospective Analysis on Large Incisional Hernia in High Risk Patients

Incisional HerniaLarge Incisional Hernia

Large incisional hernia (LIH) is a challenging condition where the abdominal wall is hopelessly compromised. Nowadays the best treatment option in this particularly frail subset of patients is a major issue. The Auhtors proposed the clinical experience with an innovative approach with the composite Free Lateral Polypropylene prosthesis (FLaPp®) mesh fashioned as "neoperitoneum" analyzing its feasibility and short/medium term results.
