Tzanck Smear With Methylene Blue Stain for Herpes
Herpes SimplexHerpes Zoster1 moreTo compare the sensitivity of Tzanck smear with methylene blue stain versus traditional Giemsa stain in patients with herpes infection.
Evaluation of the HSV 1 & 2 Assay in Specimens From Symptomatic Subjects
Herpes Simplex InfectionsThis clinical performance study is being conducted to evaluate the performance of the Aptima Herpes Simplex Viruses 1 & 2 assay for detection of herpes simplex virus (HSV) type 1 (HSV-1) and HSV type 2 (HSV-2) in swab samples prospectively collected from suspected HSV lesions. Specimens collected using swabs from viral transport medium (VTM)collection kits and Aptima swab collection kits will be evaluated.
Serologic Assays for the Diagnosis of Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2
Genital HerpesThe purposes of this study are: To determine the accuracy of commercially available serologic assays in diagnosing patients with herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2); To assess the sensitivity and specificity of the commerical assays using HSV-2 western blot as the "gold standard" in a diverse patient population; To develop testing strategies and recommendations for screening asymptomatic populations for HSV-2.
VZV PCR Sampling Validation Study
Herpes ZosterThis study will evaluate and compare various methods for collecting lesion samples from subjects with clinically diagnosed herpes zoster for the laboratory confirmation of herpes zoster. The samples will be tested by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to detect VZV DNA. Multiple samples from each type of herpes zoster lesion will be collected in order to determine whether the analysis of duplicate samples enhances the sensitivity of VZV DNA detection for the diagnosis of herpes zoster. In addition, blood will be collected for the evaluation of VZV immunity at the time of the initial herpes zoster sample collection (after herpes zoster has been clinically diagnosed) and one month later in order to establish the range of cellular and humoral immune responses during natural herpes zoster in adults ≥50 years old.
A Retrospective Chart Review Study of Gene-Eden-VIR/Novirin
Herpes Simplex InfectionsHuman Papillomavirus3 moreThis study measured the changes in health-related complaints by analyzing charts of individuals, who are infected with a latent virus, who have used Gene-Eden-VIR/Novirin.
Review of Human Herpes Viruses in Burns
Human Herpes VirusHerpes Simplex Virus4 moreHerpes simplex virus, cytomegalovirus and varicella zoster virus infection are purported to play a pivotal role in morbidity and mortality in burns. Thus far, there is no existing systematic review (Level of Evidence III or higher) describing the unique role as well as concurrent infections of these viruses in burns. The aim of this review is to point out the clinical differences between these human herpes virus subtypes, to outline established therapy approaches, and to provide evidence for virus related morbidity and mortality in burns.
A Phase I-c Study of Recombinant GM-CSF Herpes Simplex Virus to TreatⅣ M1c
MelanomaRecombinant human GM-CSF herpes simplex virus injection (OrienX010) is a genetically engineered from Chinese patients oral separation of wild type 1 herpes simplex virus (HSV) as the carrier insert GM-CSF gene therapy drug. After gene recombination technology successively removing ICP34.5, ICP47 and insert the deactivation ICP6 gene, and at the site of the original ICP34.5 insert guided by IE promoter of hCMV human gm-csf gene. The drug after tumor site local injections of dosing, on the one hand, because of the soluble tumor characteristics of herpes simplex virus, reconstructing it after HSV-1 virus carrier at the injection site specific "soluble tumor" kill tumor cells;Viral vector expressed in tumor site, on the other hand, to produce high concentrations of GM-CSF enhance the antitumor immune function, play "beside the destruction effect", have inhibition effect on the distant metastases.
Herpes Simplex Reactivation in Adult Critical Care Patients
Herpes Simplex IHerpes Simplex IIWelcome or not Herpes Simplex virus (HSV) is an ever present guest in the intensive care unit (ICU). Several studies have documented a high frequency of HSV reactivation in critically ill patients despite that clinical impact remains unknown.
Observation on the Herpes Simplex Keratitis
KeratitisHerpeticAs is reported, NSAIDs(pranoprofen ,bromfenac) eye drops can suppress herpes simplex virus(HSV-1) reactivation and reduce inflammatory reaction in vitro and in vivo. In Clinical, there is no risk of corneal tissue melting, glaucoma, cataract by topical application of NSAIDs. To explore more effective clinical treatment of viral keratitis patients to control the inflammatory damage, save the visual function and reduce the recurrence of the virus ,we observe the effect of anti-inflammatory and inhibition of recurrence on the herpes simplex virus after topical NSAIDs administration.

Atopic Dermatitis With a History of Eczema HerpeticumAtopic Dermatitis Without a History of Eczema Herpeticum1 moreThis study investigates whether blood monocytes' surface bound- immunoglobulin E affects the innate immune responses against herpes simplex viruses in atopic dermatitis patients with eczema herpeticum.
