Accelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaAdult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Remission114 moreRATIONALE: Lithium carbonate may be an effective treatment for intestinal graft-versus-host disease caused by a donor stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying lithium carbonate in treating patients with acute intestinal graft-versus-host-disease after donor stem cell transplant.
Music Therapy on Nausea and Pain for Autologous Stem Cell
Multiple MyelomaNon-Hodgkin Lymphoma1 moreAutologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) is an important therapy for patients with multiple myeloma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and Hodgkin's lymphoma. It has been shown to improve progression free survival and overall survival. However, it is a challenging treatment process both physically and psychologically. It is a procedure with many side effects that can be uncomfortable, painful, and at times, difficult to endure. Complementary therapies, such as music therapy, have potential to be an important adjunct in palliation of symptoms in patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Internet-Based Program With or Without Telephone-Based Problem-Solving Training in Helping Long-Term...
Accelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaAdult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Remission92 moreRATIONALE: A personalized Internet-based program may help improve fatigue, depression, and quality of life in long-term survivors of stem cell transplant. It is not yet known whether an Internet-based program is more effective with or without telephone-based problem-solving training. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying how well an Internet-based program works with or without telephone-based problem-solving training in helping long-term survivors of hematopoietic stem cell transplant cope with late complications
Deferasirox in Treating Iron Overload Caused By Blood Transfusions in Patients With Hematologic...
Acute Undifferentiated LeukemiaAdult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Remission135 moreRATIONALE: Deferasirox may remove excess iron from the body caused by blood transfusions. PURPOSE: This clinical trial studies deferasirox in treating iron overload caused by blood transfusions in patients with hematologic malignancies.
Massage Therapy Given by Caregiver in Treating Quality of Life of Young Patients Undergoing Treatment...
Accelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaAcute Undifferentiated Leukemia88 moreThis clinical trial studies massage therapy given by caregiver in treating quality of life of young patients undergoing treatment for cancer. Massage therapy given by a caregiver may improve the quality of life of young patients undergoing treatment for cancer
A Randomized Trial of The Effectiveness of Aromatherapy on Chemotherapy Induced Nausea and Vomiting...
Brain TumorsLeukemia4 moreAromatherapy has anecdotally been reported to decrease nausea and vomiting, decrease anxiety and increase quality of life in cancer patients. Therefore, the proposed study aims to assess the effectiveness of aromatherapy versus placebo on nausea, vomiting, anxiety and quality of life among pediatric oncology patients receiving emetogenic chemotherapy.
Tac, Mini-MTX, MMF Versus Tac, MTX for GVHD Prevention
Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaAcute Lymphoblastic Leukemia8 moreThis randomized clinical trial studies standard GVHD prophylaxis with tacrolimus and methotrexate compared to tacrolimus, mycophenolate mofetil and a reduced-dose methotrexate in patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant. Both mycophenolate mofetil and reduced-dose methotrexate, in combination with a calcineurin inhibitor, have been shown to be safe and effective in GVHD prevention with less toxicity than standard dose methotrexate. It is not yet known, however, whether this combination of mycophenolate mofetil and reduced-dose methotrexate with tacrolimus is more effective than tacrolimus and standard dose methotrexate in preventing GVHD.
Palifermin in Preventing Chronic Graft-Versus-Host Disease in Patients Who Have Undergone Donor...
Accelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaAdult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Remission89 moreRATIONALE: Growth factors, such as palifermin, may prevent chronic graft-versus-host disease caused by donor stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial studies palifermin in preventing chronic graft-versus-host disease in patients who have undergone donor stem cell transplant for hematologic cancer
Pharmacokinetics and Safety Study of Azacitidine in Cancer Patients With and Without Impaired Renal...
MDSAML4 moreThe purpose of this study is to evaluate three things. The first being whether azacitidine is absorbed in the body at the same rate or proportion for different concentrations. The second is to determine the effect renal impairment has or does not have on the absorption of azacitidine. The third is to determine if azacitidine is safe and well tolerated in patients with renal function impairment.

Hematopoietic/Lymphoid CancerAccelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia135 moreRATIONALE: Beclomethasone dipropionate may be effective in preventing acute graft-versus-host disease in patients undergoing a stem cell transplant for hematologic cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well beclomethasone dipropionate works in preventing acute graft-versus-host disease in patients undergoing a donor stem cell transplant for hematologic cancer.
