Study of Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccine Among Children
InfluenzaThe aim of the study is to evaluate a prototype quadrivalent influenza vaccine (QIV), the licensed 2010-2011 trivalent influenza vaccine (TIV) containing the primary B strain (B1), and the investigational TIV containing the alternate B (B2) strain in children. Primary Objective: To demonstrate non-inferiority of antibody responses to QIV compared with licensed 2010-2011 TIV (containing the primary B strain) and investigational TIV (containing the alternate B strain) as assessed by geometric mean titer (GMT) ratios for each of the four virus strains separately among children aged 6 months to less than 9 years of age Secondary Objective: To demonstrate superiority of antibody responses to each B strain in QIV compared with antibody titers following vaccination with the TIV that does not contain the corresponding B strain, as assessed by GMT ratios and seroconversion rates. Observational Objective: To describe the safety profile of QIV among subjects 6 months to less than 9 years of age, as assessed by solicited injection site and systemic adverse events (AEs) collected for 7 days post-vaccination, unsolicited adverse events collected from 21 days post-vaccination, and adverse events of special interest and serious adverse events (SAEs) collected from Visit 1 to Visit 2.

InfluenzaThe purpose of this study is to determine the immune response of three dose levels of the Novavax Quadrivalent vaccine in healthy young adults (18-64). The study is broken down into 5 treatment groups. Each group will enroll 100 subjects, for a total of 500 subjects. Group 1-3 will receive one of three dose levels of the Novavax Quadrivalent vaccine, Group 4 will receive a dose of the Novavax Trivalent vaccine, and Group 5 will receive a commercially available trivalent influenza vaccine (TIV). The study will also evaluate the safety and tolerability of the Novavax Quadrivalent vaccine.

InfluenzaEach potential subject will be screened before the start of the study to determine their eligibility for participation. Just prior to vaccination, a 10 mL venous blood sample will be taken from each eligible subject, for baseline titration of circulating anti-HA antibodies. Immediately thereafter, each subject received one dose of vaccine (0.5 mL) by intramuscular injection into the upper arm. Subjects will be asked to stay at the site for 30 minutes post-vaccination to observe for immediate reaction. Subjects will be monitored for adverse events during the study. At three weeks (±3 days) after the vaccination, subjects will be asked to return to the site for final collection of blood samples.

InfluenzaThis is an open study of the use of AdimFlu-S (2010-2011 season) vaccine in young subjects aged between 6 months old to 18 years old. All participants will be divided into three age cohorts. First, participants aged 6 through < 36 months will receive 2 doses of 0.25 mL vaccine separated by 4 weeks. Second, participants aged 3 through < 9 years will receive 2 doses of 0.5 mL vaccine separated by 4 weeks. Third, participants aged 9 through < 18 years will receive one dose of 0.5 mL vaccine. Safety outcomes included immediate reactions at the time of vaccination, solicited local and systemic reactions within 7 days after each vaccination, unsolicited adverse events, and serious adverse events. Sera prepared from blood samples will be collected from each subject immediately prior to, and 4 weeks after each vaccination. Anti-hemaglutinin (HA) antibody titers will be determined using the WHO haemaglutination inhibition reference technique. The analysis will be observer-blinded. All participants will be followed, either by clinical visit or by telephone contact, for 6 months after the first vaccination for safety reasons.

InfluenzaThe purposes of this study are to evaluate the pharmacokinetics (affect the body has on a drug), and pharmacodynamics (affect the drug has on the body) and safety of an experimental intravenous (within a vein) flu medication, peramivir, in children. Participants will include 63 hospitalized children with confirmed flu. Children will be grouped according to age and younger children will not receive drug until safety data from the groups of older children are reviewed. Hospitalized children may receive up to 5 doses of peramivir. Study procedures include: nasal/throat swabs, reporting any experienced side effects, physical examination including assessment of the nervous system, and blood sample collection. Participants will be involved in study related procedures for up to 28 days.
