H1N1 Vaccine in Pregnant Women
InfluenzaThe purpose of this study is to evaluate an investigational 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine to determine vaccine safety in pregnant women and the body's immune response (body's defense against disease) to different strengths of the H1N1 influenza vaccine. In this study, 2 strengths of the H1N1 influenza vaccine will be tested (given 3 weeks apart). Participants will include approximately 120 healthy pregnant women, ages 18-39 years, in their second or third trimester of pregnancy (14-34 weeks gestation). Study procedures will include 2 doses of vaccine, blood samples, cord blood samples at delivery, and recording temperature and vaccine side effects in a memory aid for 8 days following each vaccination. Participants will be involved in study related procedures for about 7 months.

Pandemic InfluenzaThis present study, randomized, single-blind, dose-ranging, multicenter study, will evaluate immunogenicity, safety and tolerability of two doses of an adjuvanted and not-adjuvanted new swine-origin influenza A/H1N1 virus monovalent subunit vaccine in healthy adult and elderly subjects. A booster dose will be administered 12 months after the first vaccination.

InfluenzaThis is a Phase IIa open label, non placebo controlled, non-randomised controlled challenge study. The primary objective of this study is to assess the safety of a new influenza vaccine, MVA-NP+M1, when administered as a single dose to healthy volunteers. Initially two volunteers will be vaccinated and challenged with Influenza, followed by vaccination of a further 12 volunteers and an Influenza challenge of those 12 along with 12 non-vaccinated controls.
Rapid Evaluation of Pandemic H1N1 Influenza Vaccine in Adults With HIV
HIV InfectionsH1N1 InfluenzaThe purpose of this study is to assess the safety and effectiveness (immune response) to a licensed H1N12009 influenza vaccine in HIV-infected adults. The study will enroll 150 adults (ages 20-59 years). Participants will be randomized into 2 groups and will receive either one dose or two doses of a licensed H1N1 vaccine. Study procedures include: medical history, blood samples and completing a memory aid. Participants will be involved in study related procedures for approximately 6 days.

InfluenzaThis was a randomized, laboratory-blinded study in healthy male and non-pregnant female designed to investigate the safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity of an inactivated influenza H1N1 vaccine (AdimFlu-S). In the adult cohort, all volunteers were randomized in a 1:1:1 ratio to receive 2 injections of AdimFlu-S (A/H1N1) 15 mcg HA at 3 weeks apart, 2 injections of AdimFlu-S (A/H1N1) 30 mcg HA at 3 weeks apart or 1 injection of AdimFlu-S (A/H1N1) 15 mcg HA. In the elders cohort, all volunteers were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive 2 injections of AdimFlu-S (A/H1N1) 15 mcg HA at 3 weeks apart or 2 injections of AdimFlu-S (A/H1N1) 30 mcg HA at 3 weeks apart. Following immunization, safety was measured by assessment of adverse events for 6 weeks following the first vaccination, serious adverse events and new-onset chronic medical conditions through 7 months post first vaccination; and reactogenicity to the vaccines for 7 days following each vaccination. Immunogenicity testing included hemagglutinin inhibition (HAI) testing on serum obtained before first vaccination, and three and six weeks after first vaccination.
