Effect of Red Yeast Rice, Phytosterols and L-tyrosol on Lipid Profile and Endothelial Function
HypercholesterolemiaA large body of evidence confirm the cholesterol lowering effect of red yeast rice, phytosterols and L-tyrosol. Because their mechanisms of action mime the ones of chemical statins and cholesterol absorption inhibitors, it is plausible that their association will provide a more relevant (and safe) LDL cholesterolemia reduction.

A Study of PCSK9 Inhibitor AK102 in Healthy Subjects
HypercholesterolaemiaThis is a first-in-human,randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, single dose escalation, phase 1 study to evaluate the safety, tolerability, PK/PD and immunogenicity of AK102 administered subcutaneously in healthy subjects. Subjects will be randomized into 4 planned single dose escalation cohorts or placebo cohort.
LDL-cholesterol Lowering Effect of a New Dietary Supplement
HypercholesterolemiaThe aim of this study was to assess the lipid-lowering activity and safety of a dietary supplement containing monacolin K, L-arginine, coenzyme Q10 and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Twenty both gender caucasian outpatients aged 18-75 yrs with serum LDL-C between130-180 mg/dL, not significantly modified by an appropriate dietetic regimen assumed two different dietary supplements (Argicolina [trade mark]: A; Normolip 5 [trade mark]: N) both containing monacolin K 10 mg for 8 weeks each separated by a 4-week wash-out period in a single center, controlled, randomized, open-label, cross-over clinical study. Exclusion criteria were pregnancy or breast-feeding; known liver, renal or muscle diseases; serum triglycerides (TG) greater than 350 mg/dL; previous cardiovascular events; concomitant neoplastic or immunodepressive disease; use of lipid-lowering drugs or dietary supplements within the last three weeks; concurrent use of thiazide diuretics, oral contraceptives containing estrogen or progestogen, systemic corticosteroids; use of psycho-active substances, drug or alcohol abuse; neurological or psychiatric diseases that could affect consent validity or impair the patient's adherence to the study protocol. Evaluation criteria were Tot-C, LDL-C, HDL-cholesterol, TG, fasting blood glucose, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, creatinkinase, gamma-glutamyl-transpeptidase, humeral blood pressure and heart rate measured at the start and a the end of each treatment period. Safety was monitored through the study.
A Multiple Ascending Dose Study of HTD1801 in Adults With Hypercholesterolemia
HypercholesterolemiaThis is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter, multiple ascending dose (MAD) study to evaluate the safety and tolerability, pharmacokinetic (PK), and pharmacodynamic (PD) profiles of HTD1801 in overweight to obese adults with hypercholesterolemia. There were 3 cohorts of dose levels as 500, 1000 and 2000 mg/day, with 16 subjects planned for each cohort randomized 3:1 to receive either HTD1801 or Placebo.
Safety and Tolerability Study of Ezetimibe (SCH 058235/MK-0653) Plus Atorvastatin or Simvastatin...
HypercholesterolemiaThe primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term safety and tolerability of ezetimibe (SCH 058235/MK-0653) 10 mg dosed daily and co-administered with either atorvastatin or simvastatin for up to 24 months in participants with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (FH). Following completion of the 12-week, double-blind, efficacy and safety parent study (P01030/MK-0653-018; NCT03884452) participants will be offered entry into this open-label, 24-month extension study.
