The purpose of this project is to evaluate the effectiveness of a virtual diabetes group visits on patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Epilepsy is a disabling and lethal neurological disease which affect 3.47 million Americans. Significant health care disparities exist in people with epilepsy (PWE). Hypertension and hyperlipidemia are highly prevalent and often go undertreated, and cardiovascular (CV) mortality is higher in people with epilepsy (PWE) than the general population. Preliminary data from our group shows that PWE have higher ACC-ASCVD risk scores than an age matched NHANES cohort without epilepsy. Preliminary data also demonstrate mortality rates in PWE due to hypertension, stroke, and diabetes are rising in the US, counter to the US general population. This proposal seeks to test the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of a new care model for the underserved PWE in a public health setting. In this new model, neurologists guided by standardized treatment algorithms (ACC-ASCVD estimator+) propose and initiate pharmacological interventions for hypertension and hyperlipidemia.

This study is a randomized, open-label clinical trial to validate the efficacy and safety of smartphone app-guided life style modification for the management of hypertension and hyperlipidemia.

CHORAL Flow is a randomised, double blinded, placebo-controlled trial of the effects of evolocumab on coronary flow at 12 weeks.

The study will investigate the effects of atorvastatin on the concentrations of small, dense LDL and HDL subfractions in patients with diabetes and the underlying mechanisms of these effects.

The Torcetrapib project was terminated on December 2, 2006 due to safety findings. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the lipid drug torcetrapib/atorvastatin in subjects with a rare genetically known disorder of high cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

OBJECTIVES: I. Determine the effect of atorvastatin on the plasma levels of lipids, Lp(a), and apoproteins for treating hyperlipidemia in children with nephrotic syndrome in whom proteinuria and hyperlipidemia persist after other appropriate measures to treat their primary disease have been exhausted. II. Determine the safety and tolerability of atorvastatin in these patients. III. Provide preliminary data for a future investigation into the potential effect that lowering cholesterol levels may have on the rate of progression of renal insufficiency in such patients.
