Contrast Sensitivity Assessment in Pediatric Cataract Surgery With IOL Implantation

Contrast Sensitivity

The study evaluates contrast sensitivity in older children following surgery for lamellar and posterior subcapsular cataracts. Often, pediatric surgeons tend to delay surgery in these children who present beyond the amblyogenic age group. These cataracts are often compatible with reasonable visual acuity and therefore some surgeons prefer to wait for surgery, whereas others tend to operate. The study evaluates improvement in contrast sensitivity at different spatial frequencies following cataract surgery for lamellar and posterior subcapsular cataracts in older children.

Persistence of Oral Tolerance to Peanut

EczemaEgg Allergy2 more

ITN049AD (LEAP-On) Study is a continuation of the ITN032AD LEAP Study (NCT00329784). Peanut Allergy, a recognized public health concern, is a common and potentially life-threatening food allergy for which there is no treatment. ITN032AD (LEAP) Study evaluated whether early exposure to peanut promotes tolerance and provides protection from developing peanut allergy in children who are allergic to eggs or who have severe eczema. ITN049AD (LEAP-On) Study will evaluate persistent tolerance to peanut by assessing the effect of twelve months of cessation of peanut consumption in LEAP Study participants who consumed peanut and those who avoided peanut over the previous five years.

Effect of Resveratrol Administration on Metabolic Syndrome, Insulin Sensitivity and Insulin Secretion...

Metabolic Syndrome X

The Metabolic Syndrome is a high prevalence disease worldwide. About a quarter of the adult population suffers the disease. Resveratrol is a substance found in many plants, including grapes, nuts and wine, but it's also found in Polygonum cuspidatum. There is evidence that resveratrol consumption has beneficial effects on glucose and lipids metabolism, blood pressure and body weight. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of resveratrol on metabolic syndrome, insulin sensitivity and insulin secretion. The investigators hypothesis was that the administration of resveratrol modifies the metabolic syndrome, insulin sensitivity and insulin secretion.

Dose Escalation Study of OMP-54F28 in Combination With Paclitaxel and Carboplatin in Patients With...

Ovarian Cancer

This is an open-label Phase 1b dose-escalation study to assess the safety, tolerability, and PK of OMP-54F28 when combined with paclitaxel and carboplatin. OMP-54F28 will be administered IV on Days 1 of each 21-day cycle. Paclitaxel (175 mg/m2) and carboplatin (AUC = 5 mg/mL • min) will be administered IV on Day 1 of each cycle. A total of 6 cycles of paclitaxel and carboplatin will be given. Additional cycles may be given as per institutional standard of care after discussion with the Medical Monitor. Treatment with OMP-54F28 will continue after completion of treatment with paclitaxel and carboplatin. The planned dose levels of OMP-54F28 are 5 and 10 mg/kg.
