Biomarkers in Pulmonary Hypertension Associated to Interstitial Lung Disease
Interstitial Lung DiseasePulmonary Hypertension1 moreThe presence of an abnormally increased pulmonary blood pressure worsens the prognosis of patients with interstitial pulmonary disease. The aim of this study is to estimate the frequency of an increased blood pressure in the lungs among patient with interstitial pulmonary disease, and to evaluate the use of different biomarkers in diagnosis of the condition.
Evaluation of Patients With Known or Suspected Heart Disease
Peripheral Artery DiseaseCoronary Disease5 moreIn this study researchers will admit and evaluate patients with known or suspected heart disease referred to the Cardiology Branch of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). Patients participating in this study will undergo a general medical evaluation, including blood tests, urine, examination, chest x-ray and electrocardiogram (EKG). In addition, patients may be asked to have an echocardiogram (ultrasound scan of the heart) and to perform an exercise stress test. These tests are designed to assess the types and causes of patient's heart diseases and to determine if they can participate in other, specific research studies.
Epidemiology and Treatment Patterns of Paediatric PAH (Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension)
HypertensionPulmonaryTo describe the prevalence, incidence and current treatment and procedures patterns in a US pediatric population with PAH in MarketScan database during the period 2010-2013
A Study to Understand the Treatment Patterns in Patients With Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension or...
HypertensionPulmonaryThe aim of this study is to understand the treatment patterns in patients with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) or Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) during a switch of treatment to Adempas in real-life clinical practice. In addition, this study will describe patient demographics and reason for switching
U.S. CTEPH Registry
Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH)Pulmonary HypertensionThe U.S. CTEPH Registry is a multicenter, observational, U.S.-based study of the clinical course and treatment of patients diagnosed with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), WHO Group IV Classification for Pulmonary Hypertension. The mission of the Registry will be to promote a greater understanding of the prevalence, pathophysiology, evaluation, and treatment of patients with CTEPH through shared information, education, and collaborative investigation among pulmonary hypertension (PH) centers of excellence throughout the U.S.
Screening for Pulmonary Vascular Changes in Patients With Chronic Myeloproliferative Diseases
Myeloproliferative DisordersPulmonary HypertensionGoal of the study is to assess the frequency of pulmonary hypertension in patients with chronic myeloproliferative diseases. In each patient an echocardiography at rest will be performed. In patients without musculoskeletal disease an exercise test (spiroergometry) will be performed. Patients with elevated SPAP at rest or with reduced exercise capacity (peak VO2 < 65%) a right heart catheterization (RHC) will be recommended. Also patients with advanced NYHA functional class (III or IV) or with typical PH findings in electrocardiogram will be advised to undergo a RHC. Additionally for the evaluation of exercise capacity a 6 MWD will be performed. This work- up of patients allows clinical and hemodynamic evaluation.
Right Ventricular Function During Exercise in Highlanders/Lowlanders
High Altitude Pulmonary HypertensionThe purpose of the current study is to evaluate the right ventricular function during graded cycling on an ergometer by transthoracic echocardiography in Kyrgyz highlanders with high altitude pulmonary hypertension (HAPH) by performing a cross-sectional case-control study.
Pulmonary Hypertension in Haemodialysis Patients :Frequency and Risk Factors
Pulmonary HypertensionHigh mortality rates due to cardiovascular disease in end-stage renal disease patients been described by epidemiological and clinical studies. It accounts for approximately 50 percent of deaths in dialysis patients. Although controversial, this may be due to the presence of excess vascular calcification particularly in the form of extensive coronary artery calcification which can be observed even in very young dialysis patients. It was suggested that abnormalities of the right ventricular function in patients with end-stage renal disease were largely due to pulmonary hypertension which usually develops secondary to pulmonary artery calcifications.
Reversal of Right Ventricular Steatosis in Pulmonary Hypertension
Pulmonary; HypertensionSteatosis1 moreThe goal of this study is to elucidate the relationship between myocardial right ventricular triglyceride content (steatosis) and right ventricular dysfunction in participants with pulmonary hypertension, and investigate reversibility of this phenotype with omega-3 fatty acid treatment.
Evaluation of Novel Lung Function Parameters in Patients With Pulmonary Hypertension (PH)
Pulmonary HypertensionLittle is known about affection of small airways in patients with pulmonary hypertension as well as the ideal diagnostic approach. The investigators therefore aimed to evaluate novel or not widely used lung function tests for the evaluation of airway function in patients with PH.
