HypertensionStroke (CVA) or TIA

To assess the feasibility and adoptability of DailyDoctor's remote monitoring clinical decision support software tool in helping physicians virtually manage systolic blood pressures among patients with history of stroke or TIA to a target systolic blood pressure (<140 mmHg or a lower target range specified by referring physicians) using remote monitoring and independent clinical judgement.

Using Intradialytic Blood Pressure Slopes to Guide Ultrafiltration

ESRDExtracellular Fluid Alteration1 more

This study is an open label randomized clinical trial that comparing intradialytic blood pressure slope-based ultrafiltration prescriptions to standard care in the chronic fluid management of maintenance hemodialysis patients. It also includes a cross sectional component evaluating the associations between intradialytic blood pressure slopes ascertained over 2 week periods with measurements of extracellular water/body weight obtained with multifrequency bioimpedance spectroscopy.

Treatment of Resistant Hypertension by Prevention of T-Cell Co-Stimulation

Hypertension

The purpose of this study is to test whether abatacept, a drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat rheumatoid arthritis, may help blood pressure medications to work better. This will be studied in people with high blood pressure that is not well controlled on three or more blood pressure medications, the condition also known as resistant hypertension. We expect to show that adding abatacept therapy to standardized treatment of resistant hypertension will result in a greater decrease in blood pressure at 24 weeks compared to treatment with placebo and conventional blood pressure treatment.

The Jackson Heart Study of Cardiovascular Disease Among African Americans

Cardiovascular DiseasesHeart Diseases4 more

This is a prospective study of the environmental and genetic factors that influence the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in African American men and women. The cohort is a collaboration among multiple institutions (Jackson State University, Mississippi State Department of Health, Tougaloo College, and the University of Mississippi Medical Center), the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI).

Endtidal Carbon Dioxide for Earlier Detection of Pulmonary Hypertension

HypertensionPulmonary4 more

Measurement of the endtidal carbon dioxide by capnography to exclude or to ensure the diagnosis pulmonary hypertension. The aim of the study is to obtain an endtidal carbon dioxide cut-off value for the diagnostic algorithm for pulmonary hypertension as an easily measurable and cheap diagnostic tool in patients with suspicion of pulmonary hypertension.
