The purpose of this study is to determine the timeline of progression from pre-pulmonary hypertension to diagnosable pulmonary hypertension based on right heart catheterization. Moreover, to determine the timeline for progression from diagnosable pulmonary hypertension to clinical worsening of disease as defined as death, hospitalization, or worsening of PHT symptoms.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the epidemiology of resistant hypertension, evaluate the efficacy and feasibility of a standardized drug treatment regimen (including the randomization of two doses of the diuretic used - chlorthalidone), study two interventions in the group of patients that is non-compliant, and study environmental and genetic variables of individuals with resistant hypertension in a family design.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether a noninvasive method of measuring certain aspects of blood circulation (e.g., blood pressure, cardiac output) is an accurate and reliable method to detect changes in pregnant patients. Specifically,the investigators are interested in patients diagnosed with high blood pressure during their pregnancy, as compared with normal pregnant patients. A noninvasive, accurate method of taking these measurements in pregnant patients is not currently available.

Observation of Patients With Primary Pulmonary Hypertension Receiving Prescribed Ventavis Inhalation...

This is an observational study to monitor the continued effectiveness of Ventavis (inhaled iloprost) in the long-term. The study observes the effects and the safety of Ventavis inhalation therapy over at least 2 years and up to 4 years. A total of 54 patients from around 30 study sites in Europe will be included in the study. This observational study will collect information in patients receiving a medication that is already available on prescription in the participating countries. Ventavis is used to treat moderate cases of primary pulmonary hypertension.

Also, to describe the clinical characteristics of patients hospitalized with hypertensive emergency including morbidity, mortality, and cost, and the extent to which hypertensive emergency occured among previously diagnosed and treated hypertensives.
